All these talks of budget cuts and I haven't heard a single person propose cutting the military

Our military spending is more than that of every other country on earth combined, yet no one has proposed slashing the military budget to reasonable levels.

Cut Veteran's Benefits as well.

stocktrader23 11-11-2010 03:26 PM

Nobody that matters has proposed it. A lot of us that aren't in the government know damn well what needs to be cut first.

- LOL - 11-11-2010 03:28 PM

we need to shut down bases across the world, that would save BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS

Why do we have troops in Germany?

Blackamooka 11-11-2010 03:31 PM

If they cut the military, how will faggots like you be able to act like cowards while hiding behind their keyboards?

_Richard_ 11-11-2010 03:32 PM

they have proposed it, and it will happen

IllTestYourGirls 11-11-2010 03:36 PM

Ron Paul has been saying it for years. Now Rand Paul is proposing it.

Let Europe and Japan defend themselves, it is long past due to bring our heros home from those areas. Nevermind we should withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan ASAP.

But Obama has just pushed back withdrawal until 2014.

Personnel stationing

Overseas

As of March 31, 2008, U.S. armed forces were stationed at more than 820 installations in at least 135 countries. Some of the largest contingents are the 50,000 military personnel deployed in Iraq, the 71,000 in Afghanistan, the 52,440 in Germany, the 35,688 in Japan (USFJ), the 28,500 in Republic of Korea (USFK), and the 9,660 in Italy and the 9,015 in the United Kingdom respectively. These numbers change frequently due to the regular recall and deployment of units.

Altogether, 77,917 military personnel are located in Europe, 141 in the former Soviet Union, 47,236 in East Asia and the Pacific, 3,362 in North Africa, the Near East, and South Asia, 1,355 are in sub-Saharan Africa with 1,941 in the Western Hemisphere excepting the United States itself.

If you try to save money on security don't cry when your house gets robbed.

It would seem to be the first place you'd want to start slashing budget...

Military Spending by Country

U.S.A. $623 billion FY08 budget [see Note 6]
China $65.0 billion 2004 [see Note 1]
Russia $50.0 billion [see Note 5]
France $45.0 billion 2005
U.K. $42.8 billion 2005 est.
Japan $41.75 billion 2007
Germany $35.1 billion 2003
Italy $28.2 billion 2003
S. Korea $21.1 billion 2003 est.
India $19.0 billion 2005 est.

How are the faggots in these countries able to hide behind their keyboards with no problem, even though they spend much less on military?

Actually looks like they are trying to cut some defense. http://money.cnn.com/2010/11/11/news...dex.htm?hpt=T1

WE'll see how much of that actually happens.

National sovereignty was a bad idea to begin with. At this point our future survival depends on the formation of world government, and until that can be resolved, security has to be maintained, even if it means pointing a giant fucking gun at everyone else.

I fully agree security has to be maintained..

A central world currency looks highly likely. Which might be a good thing. It is the possibility of a central world government that I am very uncertain if I like that idea..

Chris 11-11-2010 06:44 PM

I dont agree to shutting down bases but giving these guys HUGE sign up bonuses to joins hit like the national guard is absurd in my opinion

the main nat guard office here has a HUGE sign in front of it saying 20,000 or more sign on bonus !

spazlabz 11-11-2010 06:45 PM

India spends 19 billion? really? That surprises me for some reason, I gues it's because of Pakistan

How much of a say do you think your country will get in a world government? China and India would and should have the most votes in a world Parliament/congress. How long do you think porn would be legal?

About as long as it would be legal if conservatives were in charge of everything.

It's funny, just look at all those countries that remain free while spending only a fraction of what we do. This country is so full of idiots. :1orglaugh

The commies scare is over. Europe can defend itself and Germany is no longer a threat. Most Japanese don't want us in their country so I'm not sure why we stay. They are no longer a threat. Let Japan defend themsleves. Korea is the only place we actually NEED to stay. We can easily close 80% of cour bases overseas. We can also stop paying $500 hammers and $25 for nails.

teabaggers make a big deal about earmarks. ALL earmarks total $16 billion. Cutting military spending by just 5% saves DOUBLE that. I also laugh at the idea cutting of 250K government contractors and cutting government employees by 10%. Ok putting more people out of work is going to help the economy? Where are the jobs in the private secor that these people can go to? Where going to make all these people unemployed to "save" money then give them unemployment, foodstamps, WIC, HUD, etc, etc. None of that stuff by the way is taxble in any form unlike their paycheck so the government has even LESS money for the budget thus increasing the deficit.

You know we've got THOUSANDS of bridges and other infrastructure that are 30, 40, 50 years old or older that are verge of collapse. Why not put people to work fixing that shit? It needs to be done anyways.

Would you ever even remotely consider joining without something like a huge sign-up bonus? I wouldn't, and no one I know would. They'd really get the cream of the crap otherwise, and not every position in the military is for grunts.
