Google bounce ratio

Anyone knows what is the average bounce ratio for adult sites?

anexsia 11-10-2010 10:17 AM

All of my adult blogs vary in bounce rates between 47% to 73%. If you have a high bounce rate it can be good because that means they're clicking on your banners to go to your sponsor's websites or it can be bad and it just means they hate your site and are leaving right away. Maybe someone else can shed some better light on the subject though.

Not a question easily answerable.

It varies hugely between traffic sources and each persons site.

TheSenator 11-10-2010 10:21 AM

Everybody has a different opinion when it comes to bounce rate. I personally work hard to keep my surfers as long as I can on my blog. My bounce rate is @ 45% with an average "time on site" 3:00 minutes. I believe Google loves sites that people actually spend time on instead of sites that people bounce off of.

Phillipmcd1 11-10-2010 11:09 AM

Mine is around 58% with the average stay 2:40

Kelli58 11-10-2010 11:21 AM

I read somewhere once that the average is 50% so anything better than that you are doing good but really it tends to vary greatly depending on the type of site you run.

50% for a membership site would be horrible but 50% for a blog would be rather good.

Stephen 11-10-2010 11:37 AM

I've gone as low as 20% and as high as 88% (when requiring age verification)

same site / traffic, different landing pages

Google likes it when people spend more time on your site because it means your site is interesting. A low bounce rate + longer times means your site is relevant to your keywords.

You shouldn't lump all adult sites into one when determining if your bounce rate is good or not. If your adult site is about socks, and its relevant and interesting, your visitor time is high and your bounce rate is low. Adult or not makes no difference.

Yes I now it all depends of the traffic sources and types of sites, also that depending of the type of site it can be interpreted differently.

Just wanted to know how you guys experience the bounce ratios %

Here are some of my current stats:

Cam site / 8:56 minutes and bounce ratio of 29,63%
Cam blog site / 01:33 minutes and bounce ratio of 62,54%
Cam tube site / 02:41 minutes and bounce ration of 62,96%
Charity review site / 02:41 minutes and bounce ratio of 66,94%

Rankings 11-10-2010 12:24 PM

over all bounce can be altered by 1 bad keyword placement.

james_clickmemedia 11-10-2010 01:32 PM

Interesting thread.

fallenmuffin 11-10-2010 01:37 PM

I have 90%+ bounce rates on most of my websites. I'm not making money if they stay on my site. Send them out.

On a paysite I hope it would be low.

Why do you say that? And what's better than Google Analytics?

Google Analytics ("GA") is a great tool, but is also good business for Google. Think about it. GA will tell you how well you are doing and how well your adwords are doing. Using better adwords means more sales for you, and more advertising revenue for Google.

Google didn't get to be #1 by being dumb. If you think only idiots use GA I'd love for you to show us all a better program.

My main website has a 93% bounce rate and I'm #6 in google (out of 17 million+) for my keyword.

I agree GA a great tool especially if you want to measure and do some data mining. We have all kinds of goals setup and integrated in our stuff so I can exactly see detailed info.

That's great you must have a lot of backlinks/link trades running and processing a lot of traffic to get that high position on your keyword.

Jakez 11-10-2010 04:59 PM

bounce percent / pages viewed / time on site
Pay site 42% / 6.45 / 6:57
Free site 60% / 3.1 / 2:33
User submitted content site 28% / 15.51 / 5:55
