I'm wanting to go bow hunting and looking for tips and advice. Also if you know any good resources to check out (online or otherwise), please let me know. I live in the Rockies, so will most likely be hunting deer or elk.

i only hunt humans, does that count?

Go to an archery shop and shoot, find something you like and can afford. I still use the first bow I got, nothing special, my dad picked up this Matthews a couple years ago the thing is like a rocket launcher compared to mine.. some crazy technology and a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles as well and practice all the fucking time.

Best bet is getting down to your local shop and hooking up with a local archery club who can step you through things.I've hunted with a bow, i can shoot well enough, I still don't know jack shit about it. I'd rather use a rifle still.

I have a horse farm with many expensive horses on it. I hunt the coyotes and random wolves that pester my livestock. Come over and hang out with the coyotes. I will gladly put a bolt between your eyes.

Hunt animals with bow and arrow. Make sure the arrowhead is heavy and sharp. Otherwise, it will not pierce skin and bone.

Coyotes, much like yourself, will eventually find their ways into places where they are not wanted and must be dealt with accordingly. (ie: a horse barn, a website called GFY, etc...).

Growing up with hunters in the family. So of course I hunted. I had a compound bow as a youngster. Killed a goat and it was fucking gnarley! With a bow it took a lot longer because the thing didnt die. Long story short.. 8 more arrows and a few miles later. Dragging it back to the main road was a bitch. I was only 10 and it was fucking heavy. Skinning and dressing was a task too. Blood and guys everywhere. I had help but it was hardcore.

All the meat was eaten and I still have the head mounted and hanging @ my uncles.

Nothing would make me happier than to hear someone broke in to your house and gang raped your family. The cutting out of tongues or dismemberment would just be icing on the cake, but not a deal-breaker. :thumbsup

I have done some bow hunting...but I gave up hunting by any method some years ago. I grew tired of killing defenseless animals and now prefer to see them alive in their natural habitats. I go into the wilderness frequently and at times spend a week or two camping out. I do go armed and it has proven to be a good thing that I do...but thus far I have not had to kill a predator...a couple of warning shots with my .357 mag has scared them away.
