Redistricting Could Hand Republicans The Next Decade
Interesting article about the long term effects of the election on redistricting from Mother Jones.

The GOP has that and with their big win also got important chair positions on many committees.
Let's see if they now deliver on what they campaigned on. |

No one delivers on what they campaign on.. And if they do, the end result is usually bad for your country because what is needed could never be sold to the masses. |

US policy impacts the world primarily because of economic factors and US economic and political interests. If you don't like that, stop doing business with the US. Stop billing in $, stop targeting US surfers, stop importing crappy US products and technology. Until that time, shut the fuck up and don't complain that you have some bitch of a mistress that runs your life when you don't have the balls or brains to get rid of her. :2 cents: |

I seem to recall that a European nation elected some guy to high office in 1932 who made a bunch of problems that the USA had to fix. Just who was that guy, anyway? |

2012 is set for Obama to be a one term president. The electoral college is swinging towards the Republican favor.

Wow, this is great news for all Americans!!
|
As long as the politicians in power continue to service the corporations that get them elected, as opposed to working for the good of the people - and as long as we are slaves to a 2 party system - the political pendulum will swing wildly every 2 years.
The GOP now has skin in the game. They can't blame the congress any longer, as they are the majority now. If the PEOPLE are not happy in 2 years, they will be blamed, and the swing will go right back to the left, etc.... |
Thank god!
|
who cares? we elect the demicans or the republicrats, what's the difference?
|
Not could, will. The redistricting will lead to increased partisan infighting as each group plays to their voting base. Redistricting is just redrawing the lines to make sure you get reelected. Bad news for non-extremists of the Left and Right.

Weren't democrats doing the same? Let's face it, political/ideological gerrymandering has been around for a long ass time and that's why there's so many "safe" seats in the Congress. If we really wanted a "marketplace of ideas" and an equal arena for public debate, districts would be drawn up impartially without looking like mutated salamanders on bad shrooms. Maybe that would yield better results as opposed to gridlock?
