AMC or HBO ?
If you guys had to chose one, wich one would it be?
In Quebec we only have HBO, but some told me about how hot AMC was and it was just a good as good as HBO |
i have both :2 cents:

AMC censors their regular movies they play, plus they edit the hell out of them to fit in the time alotted. They also have commercials.
I watched Deliverance a few weeks back and they cut out the whole scene right after Ned Beatty got ass-raped where they discuss what they are going to do with the body. That was a major plot point of the movie, and they just cut it right out. So HBO is definitely better for watching movies. AMC has two of the best series on the air though, with Breaking Bad and now the Walking Dead, so they are both must-have channels, unless you prefer to download your TV series off torrents. |
I like both but I usually record the AMC shows to skip the commercials while HBO shows I like to watch right on the spot.
You forgot about showtime. They have some good stuff to. |
AMC has great movies, but the commercials are absolutely brutal. It seems like they add more commercial time later in the movie.
I can't watch it anymore, I'd rather rent and pay for the movie. |
MadMen, Breaking Bad and Walking Dead.
AMC is the winner. |
HBO.
The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad are great on AMC, but HBO overall has more I watch: Entourage, True Blood, Hung, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound & Down. |
Dont watch tv. It rots the brain.
:) |
AMC, or perhaps you mean Movie Central? Like someone already said, AMC is a channel that heavily censors all their movies for a more mainstream regular TV audience, whereas MC (Movie Central) actually IS Canada's equivalent of HBO.
To me the choice is obvious. I have it as well as HBO through my cable provider (Shaw), I get 4 channels including one HBO feed. AMC because of the censorship, to me is for the most part just plain a big waste of a channel. |
We allready have HBOCanada here in Quebec
|
I've never ever had HBO. I also don't watch AMC - until last night when I watched their new TV show. That rocked.

These days I'd have to choose AMC because they have the three best shows on TV right now. HBO has been suffering for a while now.
In other news, I read that a Rome movie is almost a done deal. Bruno Heller, the creator, has written a script that takes place 4 years after the series ended and he has funding secured already. They said that he is close to signing both Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson. Which proves what I thought all along - Lucius Vorenus didn't die after all! Did you know that those two names were real? They both appear in Caesar's "Commentarii de Bello Gallico", Book 5, Chapter 44 and are described as Centurions (although not of the 13th). Good reading, btw- it blows my mind to read the words of a man who lived so long ago. |
