John Lee Hooker spent his latter years in the Bay Area where I saw him perform many a time - one of the true legends of the blues...

I'm a big fan of George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers as well...

Yes I was aware. Not to mention George Thorogood mentions John Lee Hooker in quite a few songs. So he makes no secret of it and it almost sounds like he's doing a cover.
