Too many people give out neg reps & pos reps for the crack... the rep system has flaws & should not be taken for granted.

Nah. The way rep works anywhere else is that everyone can leave it, but your points are weighted by your own rep. That way, if a noob or an asshole that doesn't have much rep leaves you red daily it doesn't really affect your score. If you are weighted heavily and neg them it will take even more of the rep power away. When it's set up like this some asshole negging you is just something to laugh at.

For this to work you have to stop the abuse of swapping rep. The biggest trolls on here participated in some trading bullshit and now they go around negging people for fun. In the correct setup they never would have had much power to start and the return negatives would have taken it down to zippo. It's self regulating when implementation isn't so retarded.

Rep doesn't mean shit.

The current system, is not moderated and as I can see its used in some cases to abuse, or either exchange good rep between members that have the rep option.
So it gives no indication at all about, the member and anyone found abusing of the system, should have this option taken from them.

Isn't there a way that moderators can approve reputation given, before it shows up? This would avoid a lot of non deserved reputation points, negative or positive alike.
