you gotta admit unless they pull out knives and cut their throats live onstage it's a bit pretentious. seriously, just guys with guitars, long hair and tight pants no matter how ya slice it and BTW I do like blackmetal

Pretension pretty much defines the genre.

I like old school black metal.

Not black metal ... but old schoold metal which should not be forgotten!

:thumbsup Venom, Possessed, Celtic Frost, Merciful Fate ( king diamond is still the king of black metal) Seen all of them live and that is what black metal is/was. There is some really good new stuff but old school is the way to go

Have you checked out the band Taake? some of their older stuff is pretty good black metal.
