film and camera lens develop movies, not software.

I dont understand how software 'generates' movies.

Cameras are the eyes. Software doesnt have much to do with it. Till the production end of the project.

Nevermind.

Im just trying to help figure out what the guy is looking for.

DIVX produces by far the best quality:compression ratio, but everyone hates using it because you have to download the player codecs first.

You need add a third parameter into your equation quality:compression:usability.

There is no point creating an awesome quality movie that downloads in seconds inf no-one has the player for it.

Having said this I would stick with WMV files, they are the most widley acceptable on the web, they can be streamed or downloaded, and the WM 9 Encoder is easy to use and completely free from the Microsft website. Start with this and experiment with different sizes and speeds till you get what you want.

Hope this helps.
