Recommended Hosting Company : QuadraNet

Hi, seeing as there is the current RCN mess happening and no one has mentioned QuadraNet yet:

I don't post often on here, but have been coding and sysadmining in the adult industry for a number of years now so I thought I recommend the datacenter I always use.

www.quadranet.com

These guys are great, I have been using them pretty much exclusively for over 3 years now.

They have 24 / 7 on hand customer support, a very capable sales team, and are just a pleasure to deal with in general.

They provide both colo and dedicated services (vps too maybe? not sure, I always just rent dedicated boxes).

Over the last 3 years there has been one instance of 'extended' network downtime, which was for about 2 hours. One of their core routers blew a gasket or something, but outside of that we are able to maintain fairly high traffic services at a near 99.999 up time.

Unless your asking for something super custom, they always have the standard quadcore xeon + 4/8gb + 2 x sata2 servers in stock.

All their servers come with remote reboot capability (done via APC I believe).

Their bandwidth is tier1, I am able to push over 100mbit / sec between those boxes and the few I have at Webair and others in Montreal and in Asia.

Here are some numbers off my boxes there, yeah I know this doesn't mean shit, but still:

19:51:59 up 181 days, 12:38, 2 users, load average: 3.00, 3.36, 3.21

19:52:21 up 314 days, 21:31, 1 user, load average: 1.53, 2.01, 1.85

They have multiple datacenters, one in California and one in Dallas.

They have peering contracts with major ISPs in China if your services are asia facing at all which from what the PR release said, drops latencies to about 200ms to China based clients.

Also recently they have setup peering contracts with Google which I doubt has any impact on SEO based stuff, but I am sure if Google is able to pull content quicker off your server... It can only be a good thing.

Their sales team speaks English, Chinese and I believe Spanish as well.

Anyways, they are great, have never had any issues with them.

If anyone else uses them and has had a similar experience to myself, bump this thread :)

:2 cents:

You should plan on patching your server kernels this year. FYI, that requires a reboot! :1orglaugh

Cheers,

Brad
