Let's move the next JANUARY Internext show?
 

I'd love to know everyone's thoughts about having the Next Internext show in Vegas to another convention hall. The Sands doesn't seem to really want our business anyway.

How about the new MANDALAY BAY Convention center...it looks damn nice and is much bigger than the sands. The Las Vegas Convention center (The world's biggest) is another option.

Aside fro the fact that the Sands rips you off for every little thing and their staff sucks....it takes 20 minutes to walk from your room to the floor. If we had it at any other convention hall we could all drive up in a taxi to the fucking entrance and not have to deal with their shit. Just my opinion....your thoughts?

Mandalay would be better

Just been reading D$ thread about what went down at PB and it seems not only that - but losts of other responses in that thread by ppl who have big issues with the venetian

#1 Supposedly it is getting moved to Madalay Bay from what I heard.

#2 Why can't you drive up in a Taxi now? Walk out the front door, ask for a taxi

Go out to lunch a couple miles down the strip, take a taxi back....since the taxi's don't want to take you from your room to the convention center...

I dont mind the walk cuz' Im not fat and lazy like some of these slobs. ;-)

But I dont like the attitudes we get sometimes at the Venetian/Sands, so Im all for moving it elsewhere. The room service is overpriced anyway.

I agree the Venetian could be better.

You also have to assume that the Mandalay Bay or anywhere else wants to have half naked girls walking around at all hours, people doing live sex shows in their hospitality suites, people shooting porn movies in their rooms and a porno convention in their hotel.

The next Jan convention will be in my pants.

The Florida show location sucks as well!!

Mandalay Bay won't do it.. well.. I can't see them doing it.. It's the only real family oriented hotel on the strip.. too bad becuase I love the 4 Seasons Bed and Pillows.

I would consider having the players ball at the Hard Rock next time. They know how to control a crowd.

The Mandalay Center is also a great location because its directly in the center of three different hotels - cheap/med/high end priced - so if you need to stay on a tight budget, your still close to everything - or, if your rich in your porn, you can still go in style

I had heard they were going to move to Mandalay Bay, but the convention center isn't finished yet....that was last year...Now, I'm hearing it's going to be moved next year.....

Vegas is too Disneyland these days.
FInd a totally new city. San Francisco would be awesome. Less chaotic and more refreshing. They have great convention facilities.

hahaha - yeah . . . I love the city of my birth (and their claim to fame) but how can you afford to stay there for a week with no gambling to help offset the expenses?

Take the show back to New Orleans. It's been to long since I went to Temptations. :-)

It took me 3 fucking days to figure out the shortcut from Harrahs to the Sands! Without going to the garage it is a 5 mile hike, which I was cool with but the hottie I was with was in 7 inch heels! Come on we don't want bitches wearing tennis shoes?

Mandalay Bay sounds good, but it is moved.......January? How about something down south so us fuckers up north can heat up!

I'd vote for Atlantic City, at least if you go outside, you can walk to boards, get real food that isnt $50 to start for a sandwhich. Its actually not all that expensive to hang there in AC

There is plenty of gambling in Atlantic city, the major hotels are there as out in Vegas, the nice thing is that it is affordable to the average webmaster that isnt making millions off their sites. Less cost to the average webmaster means more of them there, more networking, more contacts, more business.

When I looked at the costs of being there in Vegas (room service, eating at the resturants in the area) combined with CONSTANTLY being pitched for all kinds of shit when just trying to walk down the strip, it really irritated me to the point of not wanting to come back to Vegas again.

Thats my 2 cents. Move it to Atlantic City........

I totally agree that the show needs to be moved.
There is nothing that keeps us from having to hold it in any certain city at any particular hotel. We've been doing Vegas in January for 6 years. Let's try something different for a change. At the minimum change hotels. Venetian is starting to suck. They have gotten away with overcharging us for years and now they expect us to pay extra just because they want to. Fuckers...

I am all for moving it as well. Does anyone know if they are locked into a long term contract with the Venetian?

I'd LOVE to see it moved (especially if all you guys are going to do it with your weenies! :1orglaugh ). The Venetian just doesn't seem to want us there. Rude staff, room overcharges, stolen items from the booths, bad security at the party venues....the new Mandalay Bay conference center sounds like an excellent alternative. :thumbsup

Oooh - just saw the option about AC - I have an ex there that works at the Sands that owes me around $60K. I'd love to walk in there with about 100 of you big fellows just to watch him pee in his pants :Graucho

Don't expect January to be moved from Vegas, it's not going to happen. AVN also puts on another show -- the video show -- and they get a TON of overflow from CES in day passes to their show, bringing in the $$$.

Not to mention that Vegas is one of THE most accessible cities in the world, has plenty of hotel rooms, choices for everyone in price and location.

The issue should be WHERE the show floor is located in town. I can't see Mandalay having a big problem with the crowd, Lord knows they get worse than that in for some concerts and fights lol...

The only problem I see with Mandalay is that you have to beg for a drink when you're gambling anywhere but in High Limit. And the comps suck there since they have such a huge occupancy rate. But the service is good, there's plenty to do there in-house, and yes, there is the awesome 4 Seasons up top if you want to stay somewhere and not feel like you are in a casino until you want to be.

Atlantic Ciy would be fun but not in January. Howabout having the summer show in AC?

I went to both internext and CES which was held in the Las Vegas Convention Center, and if Internext was held in the LVCC it would be amazing becase it is like 500000000000000000000 sq feet

AC's not a bad idea. But once you leave the casinos its still pretty seedy.

You're exactly right! I think what it boils down to is that AVN is probably getting a great deal by having both AEE and Internext at the Sands and Venetian. So of course the owner of AVN is looking at his pocket book and could give a "rats ass" that the majority of us Paying webmasters can't stand the cluster fuck that is the SANDS/VENETIAN (respectively).

I only wish we could some how get together and force a change of venue...but that'll never happen *Wipes tear from eye*

I made the walk from the casino in the mandalay bay to their convention center while in Vegas (going to see the shark reef) that walk was even longer than the walk in the Venetian!

It was horrible. I would really hate to see the show move there.

Good point Sharky....ok maybe the Manadaly is not the answer but we should take our biz somewhere else.

I agree, I want to go somewhere else as well. Finding origional things to do in vegas for the TGP party is getting tough.....

A flipping great idea would be to move the Jan convention a few more days into January to give us all more time to recover from the Christmas / New Year excesses.

If it does stay at the Venetian, it'd be nice if they could hire some barstaff in the Round / Octagon Bar who can actually deal with a thirsty crowd rather than just shamble around occasionally getting a drink or two.

While we're on the topic, if you could also just move Vegas a little closer to the UK so it isn't such a long-arse hop across the pond, that'd be great as well (Thanks in advance :Graucho )
