How to send emails and to avoid emails going straight to junk/spam pox?
I'm in a progress of developing a community website, there are no any users yet and I am still testing it. I keep having an annoying problem with email delivery. I need an email system to send registration information, confirmations, notifications etc. When I send email messages to gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc. my all email messages go straight to junk box. I have only sent emails to my own addresses for the testing purpose so far... so why the hell all my emails go straight to fucking spam box? Could it be because I have not set up my own email server with a dedicated IP address? I was using simple e-mail accounts that serve my hosting companies (Note that I have hosted my new website with 3 top hosting companies to test it out and everywhere the same problem.).
I need an advice how to get a perfect, bulletproof email solution that delivers. :helpme |
Your IP is not white listed. you can go through a 3rd part service like www.icontact.com
they will bounce the email from their white listed IP to the users email box. they may not accept adult. there is a process to get your own ip white listed but you have to pay for that info. |

Get a host that will allow you to run your own mail server. Get a clean IP from him. Get PHPList installed. Follow all best practises. Do these 6 steps: 1) Ask your host to enable reverse DNS on your box 2) Set up SPF( sender policy framework) records on your server: This is one of the ways that hosts check if the mail is indeed sent from the server it claims to be sent from. If you are running cpanel then you can do this yourself without your hosts help. Here is an article on how to do that. 3) Set up DomainKeys: Domain keys is a public/private key system that was started by Yahoo and is now used both by Yahoo as well as Gmail to check if the mail was indeed sent from the domain it claims to be sent from. This is one of the next most important thing to do after setting up your reverse DNS. For a quick tutorial on how to set up domain keys visit this site 4) Senderid: This is a system that?s followed by microsoft, but if you have the 3 steps I outlined earlier, your mail should sail through 5) Every few mailings check if your servers IP is in any DNS based blacklists using a tool like mxtoolbox and if it is then mail the admins at those sites and explain your situation to them. Most are always ready to help out. 6) Getting included in email deliverability services: Sites like suretymail, habeas, goodmail and senderscore aer third party accreditation sites that work closely with ISP?s and ensure that your mail gets delivered. When you sign up at these sites, your servers IP is included in their database, and the ISP?s check these databases, and if they find your IP in there then your mail gets delivered. This of these as opposites of blacklists From: http://www.novablog.info/2008/10/21/...eliverability/ List of whitelisting services For more free hints and tips go to www.adultmarketing.co.uk |
Thanks for the suggestions so far. :) My community site is not adult neither it's for the email marketing purpose so, it's absolutely 100% legit from any point of view. Hmm... I didn't know about that there are some email whitelists. :Graucho

The only time this is a problem is because none of them will accept porn emails, but if you are not sending porn, they will happily take your cash and in return deliver your emails to the inbox. |
If you do any kind of volume at all you are going to need an email reputation management system.

what to use for porn e-mails, I just want to send 5k e-mails once that's all to ex-members of a site and I'm not very techy so any service I could use who will send for me for a fee ?
