Wow this is pretty crazy. Any other tube owners seeing this?

I was just checking out our stats. SexTube search engine traffic jumped HUGE. I'm talking 20% and when did this happen? Saturday/Sunday ie when xvideos went down. Nothing else explains why we had such a sudden jump.

Anybody else seeing this? It's pretty crazy if you ask me.

Davy 10-18-2010 09:41 AM

XNXX.com is down, too. All those idiots who surf to tube sites obviously did not know where else to go.

Adraco 10-18-2010 09:45 AM

Yepp 15.7% and 19.3% increase in search traffic over the weekend. Normal day to day variations are below 5% for these two sites for me, so it's roughly 10-15 % change over the normal. Much welcome, as always!

troncarver 10-18-2010 09:46 AM

yep we are seeing this indeed - thought something was messed up on our end for a while

Machete_ 10-18-2010 09:48 AM

imagine if the other tubes went down too (youporn, pornhub, redtube)

it would be like 1999 all over again

JosephFM 10-18-2010 09:49 AM

Yes, I have a very small tube site that usually gets around 2000 hits a day and since Saturday it has gone up to 8000 uniques a day. All from search.

OneWhoKnows 10-18-2010 09:57 AM

Well, +10k on russianporntube.com - I hope they need ages to get xvideos and xnxx back online :winkwink:

Domain Broker 10-18-2010 09:59 AM

all tubes are up, some more than others.

OneWhoKnows 10-18-2010 10:04 AM

Oh, and + 10% on SE traffic. According to history that started exactly on Oct 17th, when xvideos and xnxx went down. Crazy!

The silver lining in the programs-closing-left-and-right cloud is that the surfers are still there, providing opportunity for others

blackmonsters 10-18-2010 10:21 AM

fris 10-18-2010 10:26 AM

thats what happens when your competitors sites are down, they resort to others

True. But in the old days if The Hun was down I don't think it meant a huge influx for everyone across the board. Goes to show the impact each of these big tube sites has.

A few major illegal tube sites are down. That's why the legal ones having a big surge of traffic and sales.

Make other illegal tubes die and make as many $$$ as ten years ago.

Excellent

Davy 10-18-2010 12:36 PM

It's not only some tubes that went down over the weekend.
A lot of torrent sites took a hit, too.

d-null 10-18-2010 12:43 PM

the internet is a volatile place, things change and will always continue to change

epitome 10-18-2010 12:46 PM

Shap, did you see any increase on Gay Tube?

Because I haven't seen any on my gay tubes.

(Funny side note, since I was specific about using Gay Tube and gay tubes above. Remember a recent convo with Phil about using gaytube in a subdomain? That was me asking through him ... I didn't want anybody ending up on your bad side because I once bought gaytubelover.com and let it drop when everyone politely informed me gay tube was a registered trademark and I may run into problems) :1orglaugh

The Hun in the good days: 2 million visitors
Xvideos today: 14+ million visitors

That's the difference

vittle 10-18-2010 12:48 PM

big jump in sales and traffic the last couple days!

You might be missing part of the equation. The programs aren't closing down for no reason. The conversion ratios are getting worse as time goes on which means you generally need more traffic to have the same revenue.

Captcha 10-18-2010 12:53 PM

40% up here

The Usual Suspect 10-18-2010 12:54 PM

Yeah same here, 20% spike in traffic, and more sales as well!

geirlur 10-18-2010 12:55 PM

Yep my site has gained more traffic as well :)

I always like to play safe. That's a project I'm working on for him but we're also partners on a bunch of sites.

Did you see an increase on gaytube.com though?

Nothing here. Traffic was as steady as always. Each day it is up or down 1k visitors. No bump with the mostly straight tubes down and I have top 5 on more than a few good keywords.

d-null 10-18-2010 12:57 PM

imagine if rapidshare and all the others like them were to change their policies?

How so? You think this thread was bragging?

tiger 10-18-2010 01:39 PM

It's not just tubes that are up because of this. Many other types of sites all seeing traffic spikes. Enjoy it while it lasts though I doubt those guys will be down for long.

Ross 10-18-2010 01:54 PM

Big traffic spikes over here at PimpRoll HQ.

Well, you do drive an affiliate programme and a lot of your posts are "sales/traffic are down, sales/traffic are up". I'm just a bystander, and I think you are an honest guy, but in the current climate, regular joe has to weigh up why the public announcements on such whim?

I sometimes see increases of 2-3 million hits on a site I run, serving other webmasters from which I gain nothing, and I investigate to make sure the increase in traffic isn't nefarious and some times I can't pinpoint it so I let it slide. I could equally not bother investigating and go running to GFY asking why traffic dropped by 1 mill or gained by 3 mill, but I don't.

Just sayin.

In any case, if it helps your quest, my site was doing a steady 5 million lookups/day and since the weekend is steady on 8mill. So I saw a large increase over the weekend, but my traffic isn't xnxx related, nor is it tube related, so take this stat on mainstream increase however you wish....

That's the difference

It's not about the number of people looking at free stuff on your site. It's about the number of people who convert.

I've had galleries on The Hun and videos on Tubes. The Hun did far far better.

seeandsee 10-18-2010 02:08 PM

-100% traffic here :DDDDDDDDDD

I understand. I've made the posts to see if we were alone in the situation. If we were alone then it was a change we made. If we weren't then it was completely out of our control. It's important information to have imo and lately there have been a number of highs and lows. From an affiliate program perspective it does nothing to help get business when I post twice that we had really shitty days and when i post our tube traffic is up. Papillon just always has to be negative in every thread of mine.

But in this situation and regarding this thread it is all about the numbers. Hun could go down and nobody would know. Xvideos/Xnxx goes down and we all feel it. It's really nuts when you think about it. We've got 5 to 10 sites that if they disappeared the entire industry would probably change drastically. That's pretty crazy.

I had a gallery on the hun many years ago and it was like a shit - 200k of hits and no sales at all (please don't tell me that gallery was bad, because it has a very good ratio on CJ2 sites). On the other hand, my legal blog-tube sites convert very good (1:500-1:2000 depends on affiliate program). So don't blame tubes (I mean the legal ones) blame yourself if you can't make your tube site to sell a paysite but not some deepshit like AFF or AWE. :2 cents:
