Anyone else find slightly ironic?

You copy a block buster movie and make a sex parody of it, then sue people who steal it from you.

Jdoughs 10-17-2010 08:29 PM

Flynt is the King of Parody, and has lots of experience defending that, but yeah, completely ironic.

Alprazolam 10-17-2010 08:32 PM

the parody is protected by law. downloading said parody for free is not.

Actually it's not ironic since his parody fits perfectly within the copyright law and
is 100% legal.

No shit Sherlock, but there is still some irony there because Larry (his people) stole the idea of Avatar in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, SUE THE FUCKERS!!! I just think this particular case is a little funny.

Agent 488 10-17-2010 08:51 PM

maybe people thought they were downloading the original not the parody. smells like a trap.

Well bro, you "stole" the idea to film people fucking and selling it on the internet.
So will it be ironic when your videos are plastered all over free tubes and you sue them?

FYI : Ideas are not copyrightable, only the particular expression of an idea is.

Example : I can not copyright the idea to sing a song about love;
but I can copyright the actual love song that I compose.

.

lol. 3120 people thought that film wasn't worth it so got it free. digital piracy at its finest

AzteK 10-17-2010 11:21 PM

How did he steal the idea of Avatar? He's not making a mainstream film with blue people. He's making an adult parody of it.

That's like saying South Park stole the idea of Jersey Shore or Saturday Night Live stole ideas for all their parody sketches..

PARODY! Look it up.

Jesus Christ, do you two live with a stick up your ass or what? Not once did I mention copyright law or the legalities of a parody.

You guys must be all kinds of fun to be around.

That was most probably filed at the court house on Friday if not even earlier. Keep in mind some court houses are open even Saturday morning in the major urban areas.

It however hits the news agencies that same day, but in some cases its published as "news" a day or two later.

It's been going on for years Paul. The result it lots of money for the 'lawyers' and lots of money for the content owners.

No court cases, but that isn't the plan.

flashfire 10-18-2010 10:44 AM

I dont care about the law it is totally ironic....you steal an idea and benefit from its popularity. Key word is STEAL
