what do you think of this idea??
http://www.onlypee.com/index_pee.php
when visitors click a link it will move to the bottom of the page. All links are generated and update daily from rss feeds. So if sponsors update feeds regularly the page will stay fresh Can you guys test and give me your opinion. |
Nice.
But,How about having the page open a pop-up...Hitting the back button each time would get annoying for the surfer. |
Don't think it's a good idea IMO... They have to refresh the page for the link to move so it's useless from that aspect... Surfers will click the "hot" ones, they'll move to the bottom and you'll be left with crappy ones at the top which will lead to some surfers not bothering to stick around.. Better to do what most sites these days do and bubble the popular links to the top which tends to make more surfers want to stay on your site.

have to look into that, can be done

1) Having the links open new window - great idea 2) Having all the shitty links float to the top (since all the good ones you liked are placed at the bottom) left me with a page of shitty links I didn't want to click on. Here is what I would do: The left side of the pagfe (50%) are all the links you have. The links you click on, fill the right hand side of the page. This way, you build a right hand side page of all the good stuff. The next surfer (or if the current surfer refreshes), sees all those links FIRST in his left hand side, and the right side, is again, clear. This way, instead of building a page of all the things users dont want to click on, you are building a page of things surfers do want to (and have) clicked on. |
it does it per visitor, not for overall.
|
i love it dude. great idea. :2 cents:
|
People are very used to click = new tab for things
And having a lot of stuff open at once. I can see you having a lot of 1 click then they close the fhg page and are lost. |
Personally I think it is a great idea. It worked perfect when I went there.
The only thought that hit me was what if when it moved down the page instead of the original thumb reappearing what if it was an ad that appeared. Like a join now ad or something. Well done.. |

I don't think it'll have much effect. It's like you're saying a surfer can't just scroll down to find what he's interested in. What would be better would be to put all the thumbs into very narrow multiple categories, and use that to work out what the surfer likes from what he clicks on, and then dynamically alter the page to show him more of it.

Good idea but this is why it is not good:
When you design a page you design is as a whole because a surfers eyes look at it as a whole. Surfers like patterns not changes, unless it comes to sorting info. i would provide it as an option. as in they see the page as a whole and multiple thumbs they are interested in at one glance. then by moving it you are changing the pattern they see. slowing down how fast they can click onto the next gallery. also it may be bad for sales in that they browse that gallery, had another one in mind, then when they go back to buy after comparing in in their mind the gallery has moved. these are the 2 major downfalls of it. you dont want surfers to have to think. you want to provide them with an experience. the greater experience they feel they have the more likely they are to buy. |

people with a "password" feel a "secret" connection to a site like they are special. Its all gimmicks, then u can have them save the way they sort etc etc. dont worry about what other sites do. little gimmicks like this people love. the more content they scroll, the more of an experience, the more likely they are to buy <<<<<<depends you can over content also of course. but if you provide quality product it doesnt matter. |
Make your name links WHITE, no point in dumming down links and titles. colors matter.
and dont just put "update" at least have a "click here to read more about "this amazing new feature"". then make it sound like it is such an amazing experience and how it works. dont ever think people "know" what they are doing, people are stupid, just tell them what to do and they will do it. |
If you like what you see you will also love this
toss a link on there, waste of real estate. |
thanks for the input, will work on a few of your suggestions, member part is already there
