Windows Phone 7 and the Windows Phone Marketplace will be as anti-porn as Steve Jobs insists the iPhone 4, iPad and iTunes App Store are.

?Not allowed: sex/nudity ? images that are sexually suggestive or provocative.?

There are plenty of references to nipples, pubic hair and breasts... Backed up by a very broad statement ?Not allowed: content that a reasonable person would consider to be adult or borderline adult content.?

They are talking about what apps you can sell in their Win Mobile app store. Try and understand what you read.

It has published its guidelines for developers looking to create programs for its forthcoming Windows Phone 7 platform. One underlying theme is a stringent focus on banning apps with violent and sexual themes.

In a PDF listing which content was not allowed, it said the following were not acceptable: "Sex / Nudity ? Images that are sexually suggestive or provocative (eg sexually provocative touching, bondage, masturbation); provocative images that reveal nipples, genitals, buttocks, or pubic hair".

Other material on the ban list includes:"Content that a reasonable person would consider to be adult or borderline adult content (images, text, or audio)."



Again - its guidelines for the APP's that can be sold in their store... nothing more

erooup, i should have clarified that in the title thanks for doing so... the app stores are a large part of the future 25 billion predicted downloads by 2015. You will still be able to use the browsers to access adult content but you have to admit that we will all miss out by not being able to put our products/services in them.

All our live cam products work thorugh the browser so for them to block us using the app stores is like laying down a challenge!

We are happy to follow the rules and will stay away from their app store but we will make sure we work on the browsers so that Windows customers dont miss out on live cams :winkwink:

Its interesting as its looking like they will be the only ones that will offer adult in thier market place... the line has been drawn in the sand and the big gus have picked thier sides!

I am more off a fan of the AV process than a complete ban, if you can prove your old enough to view adult content you should be able to access it!

While I normally agree and would love to have 18+ apps on the app store. It would simply be too hard to control. Parents, cell companies, and apple wouldn't want to continually spend the time to update and manage the software and controls to ensure users must be 18+. It's just too much time and money. Where there is a will, there is a way - it wouldn't take long for people to get a work around getting those 18+ apps on <18 year old phones. It's just more efficient to ban them straight up. As well as it would piss off a lot of customers if they suddenly threw porn apps onto the app store.

i think you hit the nail on the head... "too much time and money". Not sure how much it would anoy people to have 18+ content could be an option that is not on you account unless you have opted/AV'ed then you have an extra tab etc for your adult needs.

Just the app industry is probably bigger then the online porn industry as whole. They need to stay politicly correct for parents to be able to trust them. It's a good, calculated business move for them.
