Does anyone make money from webmaster referrals?

Does anyone make money from webmaster referrals?

I ask because I went to most of my sponsors today and I worked out that 900 people have signed up under my linking code across 50+ sponsors and it's only made me $12.49 in the last year. I'm shocked! Something fishy is going on here. WTF!

I have just a few spots I'm sending to, and you can make a decent buck if you've got a good match, and it does take quite a bit of time to add up to anything substantial.

Scripts/tools etc seem to have a better initial earning, but if you tap into a few solid webmasters in your down line it can really add up. Mind you I'm speaking from a point of having actual webmaster traffic on site everyday, not just some banners/sigs or stuff like that.

I get about 1/30 - 1/40, and to early to really tell how much of them send traffic, but I do know that they all have a handful (min) of sites and are confirmed webmasters.

The only place I made any real money with was Clickcash. I probably cashed 75k to 100k in checks over the years purely from referrals.

Edit: Aside from one big affiliate I had to teach my downline how to promote though. :(

There's probably huge amount of webmasters that sign up to programs but never make a penny with them, or just makes few bucks. So it may be better if can refer just One Big affiliate, than 900 random ones.

You are right about the sign ups to earning ratio, it's low but there is also more then just sponsor programs you can push to webmasters. For example in the last week I've made $295 (285?) from UUGallery sales. They pay out decent for the server license, and almost all customers buying the single license are repeat buyers.

It's like the old story about the guys chasing gold in the Yukon, the real winners were the guys running the Hardware Store, the Saloon and the Grocery stores. Whole towns full of families fed themselves off the workers in search of the next big thing.

You can make a few bucks here and there.

That's interesting about the uugallery sales Jdoughs. +rep

I've got lots of webmasters making good money in phone sex.

The whales usually find their own way to sponsors and don't click on aff ref codes.

u-Bob 10-16-2010 04:17 AM

a couple of k a year.

I make about $1500ish a month in affiliate referrals... not bad for taking a few minutes to connect people together. The key with referrals is to stop treating them like referrals. If you really know how to make someone some extra cash, then show/tell them and help them get it going. Then, chances are the person will leave the links up for many years... a huge benefit for your back pocket for nothing more than a few minutes of extra love.

Also, do you run FYC considering you have no aff code in your banner Fris?

I made most of ref money with jaymancash, probably close to 5k all time

candyflip 10-16-2010 05:48 AM

I was gonna say that Fris has posted ref stats before, but looks like he beat me to it.

I love their sites & footage, always have. This is meant in good faith, no drama. There's a wrong banner in the links at the bottom right of the webmasters page, a heads up for FCY that you could pass on as you obviously email & speak to them regular.

cybermike 10-16-2010 07:46 AM

Pretty much enough on ccbill to cover the fee's I don't pay attention to it but for example this weeks check was -31.91 processing fees and $52.40 for Bonus

I made a few thousand referring people to jaymancash and mayorsmoney back in the day

IllTestYourGirls 10-16-2010 08:25 AM

I do. Not much just a couple hundred a month.

This is part of the reason too, it's very easy to remove refcode, even if the link helped you to find a new sponsor. Much bigger chance to refer whales is if you actually know some of them closer and/or help them.
