I think it's not about whether the maker of the designs likes the designs. It's more about whether the audience likes the designs. They only way to find out if they like it is to test the design on an audience to get feedback.

I remember the days when programs used to hire designers to provide this service for their affiliates.

Maybe hire someone who can help you make those look better? :)
