And for the ones I've got, they can suck my dick.

OMG!! I'm fucked!!!

epitome 10-14-2010 05:21 PM

I think this will be invalidated.

The question is how many people will cough up funds to license it and who will take on the legal challenge of having it invalidated.

Mikushi 10-14-2010 06:26 PM

Ahah reminds me of a scam i received recently, guy pretending my "brand" was owned by someone in Honk Kong, asking 15000$ to sell it to me. Just told him to fuck off. (After checking the nature of the scam on the internet)

As for this, this whole patent bullshit is pissing me off more and more, hopefully it will get solved. (I mean not that it matters for me, any US claiming a patent over me, i can tell him to suck it, and put it up in court in France, see what they think about is bullshit patent there...)

jackknoff 10-14-2010 06:35 PM

I think the courts will see it for what it is, a scam... nothin to worry about

The Acacia Defense Group has reason to extremely optimistic that the battle with Acacia over patent rights to send compressed audio and video signals over a network (Internet, cable, satellite) is finally near conclusion. On October 6, 2010, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit summarily affirmed the District Court?s Ruling that all of Acacia?s asserted patent claims are invalid. While Acacia has the right to ask the Supreme Court to review the case, the Supreme Court is unlikely to grant review in this matter, let alone reverse the judgment of the lower courts. For this reason, today the Acacia Defense Group has cause for celebration. Spike Goldberg of Homegrown Video who led the Defense Group since its formation declared, "We never backed away from this fight and now we can finally enjoy a victory that benefits our entire industry."

candyflip 10-18-2010 08:09 PM

Acacia actually just signed Microsoft to a license for something else they hold a patent on. I'm pretty sure it was just the end of last week.
