Too Many Lawyers

Went for a drive down I-5 yesterday and stopped at a taco bell for some lunch. I wanted a cup of coffee. They didn't serve coffee, the girl told me they needed a permit to sell coffee, this is a taco bell and they need a separate permit for coffee? And the cost is more than they sell coffee I guess,

Then I went to get some gas, looked for the lock on the nozzle to I can get some coffee there while I'm filling up just to found out as of Oct 15Th, 3000 gas stations in California have to have the locks removed because there were 13 people that got sprayed gas on because the nozzle failed. 13 out of how many people that drive in California? All I could think is 13 shit for brains that can't operate a gas pump.

The point I'm trying to make is that it isn't about safety, it's become about liability, we have become a society that have become protected by lawyers, instead of cops. You have to be careful of what you do, not because of safety, but because someone will sue you for everything you have worked for. You can break the law if you have good lawyers, you can win a case if your lawyer is better than their lawyer, even if you were in the wrong. Lawyers have because a protection racket.

welcome to America :winkwink:

California laws are getting a bit absurd IMO. the permit is not because of the 13 people who are to retarded to operate a gas pump, its more revenue for the state. all these changes are about $$ and that money goes to the state, and they are the ones with power, not the cops.

Its the states lawyers who make up ridiculous things like this, whom to the normal folk of society think having a permit to sell coffee, because the coffee is to hot and could burn you is the state looking out for your best interest.

Same here.

Was wondering how slow the pumps must be if you have time to wander off and collect a cup of coffee while it fills.

For the love of god why do we need a special permit to sell coffee? That might just be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

It's election time again. I hate this shit. Last time it we were voting on a law to allow gays to marry. We have strict laws about putting signs on your law, big no no. In fact, can't put signs anyplace in the community. So groups were cruising around all night long, taking down the other side's signs and replacing them with theirs, and then the other group would roll up, and so forth. Eventually the cops got called because there was just way too much activity going on, people got arrested, and in the morning there was no signs to be found at all.

Idiots.

TisMe 10-14-2010 10:00 AM

Goes beyond the Lawyers and liability. It is a total and complete lack of responsibility.

If something, anything, goes wrong don't accept that you made a mistake, look for someone else to blame.

Spill your coffee? Sue because it was hot.

Abuse someone? Blame it on your childhood.

Etc, etc, etc...

Our entire society has become one where nobody accepts responsibility for anything they do.

Barry-xlovecam 10-14-2010 10:40 AM

Good point — much of this has its roots in lawyers being allowed to advertise.

One lawyer in a town will make little — two lawyers will get rich.

Liability actions have gotten crazy.

sounds like Cali... I don't miss that part lol

Because a taco bell employee told you something, it must be true.

It says here that Taco Bell does indeed sell coffee:

Quote:

• Products created with partner brands, like Cinnabon Delights for $1.49, a Morning Wrap and Morning Biscuit, both made with Jimmy Dean sausages, selling for $1.79, and Seattle’s Best Coffee, available in a regular size for 99 cents and a large size for $1.49.

Maybe the ghetto franchise that the OP went to was too cheap to pay for the $47 permit fee lol.
Or maybe the Taco Bell employee just didn't like the OP and wanted him to leave lol

How so?

The often misinterpreted quote "kill all the lawyers" is actually: "[How do we bring about Tyranny?]...The first thing we do is kill all the lawyers." Which changes its meaning entirely: Where Law Ends, Tyranny Begins.

Times have changed from his time, now it's the lawyers that are bringing the tyranny
