Marine Corps Marathon Pad-Locking Port-a-Potties at Jon Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity

Sigh..

Quote:

..."Seems one of the organizers of the Marine Corps Marathon, which will take place in Washington the morning after the Comedy Central star's clambake, told the New York Times they had been approached by the organizers of Stewart's rally about sharing the portable toilets each event is required to provide as one of the conditions of securing permits to stage the events.

In fact, the Marine Corps Marathon didn't just turn down Comedy Central's environmentally-conscious offer to share portable potties, share the tab, and have them cleaned and re-stocked before the marathon starts at 8 a.m.the next day. Marathon director Rick Nealis, told the paper in its Thursday edition, that instead of using the usual plastic-strip ties that do so much to keep interlopers out of traveling toilets on the eve of the race -- he planned to go that extra mile and would, for the first time use "real, live padlocks" on the 100-ish potties he was setting up around the Mall on Oct. 30 in advance of the race, to make absolutely sure no Stewart or Colbert fan could partake of them "

What jerks..!

On the plus side, Arianna Huffington is sticking to her pledge to provide as many free busses as necessary to take New Yorkers to the Rally. The cost so far? $250,000.00

This event is going to be huge. I can't wait to see how that asshole Glenn Beck tries to spin it to his brainless flock..

dyna mo 10-12-2010 08:09 AM

can't wait for the daily show to get a hold of this story!

_Richard_ 10-12-2010 08:11 AM

MovieMaster 10-12-2010 08:18 AM

Im sorry the liberal version of this event will flop.

Padlock on a porta-potty? That's usually the point at which I shit on the ground in front of it instead...

dyna mo 10-12-2010 09:47 AM

stewart's crew said all shit boxes would be cleaned and such after the rally, so looking at it from marines view i would not have a problem.

You've never dealt with Marines before have you?
I'll bet that after the shitboxes are delivered, they will be inspected, each one

It wasn't public

CIVMatt 10-12-2010 10:13 AM

Us Marines don't care about you hippies

Rochard 10-12-2010 10:14 AM

One time when I was in the Marines, some fucker with a Humvee drove through a row of two dozens porta potties on base just to see if they could do it. Turns out they could. No one ever figured out who did it either.

Vendzilla 10-12-2010 10:14 AM

Basically this is whats going on, it's about the Marine Corp not being able to take sides, "AT ALL". This is billed as a political rally, even though it's ran by comedians. But according the UCMJ, they can't show that they take sides. If it were something for the president, yes, he's there boss. If it was charity, yes, but not a political rally

this makes sense, but

Quote:

Marathon director Rick Nealis, told the paper in its Thursday edition, "I understand that they were having problems ordering porta-potties, that they might have to go as far as Baltimore to get them, but I just didn't want to share,"

Tom_PM 10-12-2010 10:22 AM

Seems it came down to one private citizen saying "I dont want to share". Someone go smack his mamma.

dyna mo 10-12-2010 10:22 AM

sounds like a tard-

Nealis said the whole sharing thing really did not work for him.

"One of the problems was, what if everybody did use [the porta-potties] and you ran out of toilet paper...runners would be Tweeting, and on Facebook, and that's not something, on our level of expertise...that they're expecting from the Marine Corps Marathon."

WOW! Can't believe you actually called it a "political rally".

I thought it was a comedy event to make fun out of the politics of Washington.

I think you are given too much credit to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

The Marines are just wasting tax payers money in this instance.

Everyone on this board knows that this is in response to Becks rally, weather it's comedy or not, doesn't matter, that just put it in the political zone as far as the military is concerned
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are great, I love watching their show, satire at it's best, but the same thing goes, it has a political air about it and thats all it needs

Remember those military people that stood outside the White House in uniform in protest of the don't ask don't tell? They were in violation of the UCMJ

Any affiliation with anything remotely political, the US military has to stay away from

dyna mo 10-12-2010 10:40 AM

was beck's rally political? the line is getting blurry for me.

Tom_PM 10-12-2010 10:45 AM

The line is VERY blurry at all times. Plenty of presidents give speeches at military bases, and those are often televised or shown in media. How am I supposed to know if it's a political rally or a commander in chief visit? I guess I'll have to employ common sense.

when the line is blurry, say no to it

as far as the president giving a speech, thats his right as the commander and chief. He's their leader and can and should give speeches to the military

You must have really cleaned the shit out of that hummer when you were done.

epitome 10-12-2010 01:58 PM

It's the Marine's. They're used to spending whatever they want with no oversight.

I hope this guy gets fired for wasting funds. Here we have an organization with an abutting event willing to share a big fee for portable toliet's and this guy, who is obviously not a businessman at all, would rather spend more money to prove a point.

No wonder we have such a huge deficit.

I love how right leaning members of GFY are justifying this. You say you want less government spending but you can somehow justify it in this case. REALLY?! Think before you post.

I think it was about religion not politics. His announcement of it was "the day that will change America"...and he presents America with a sermon.

I take it you're talking about me? See it's idiots like you that will later say something stupid about the Marines and their involvement with Comedy Central. That's why they don't do things like that.
But at the same time, the Marines have a HUGE Toys for Tots drive every year, but you can't get over sharing the expense over some shit boxes.
So maybe it's you that should think before posting about something that you clearly don't know shit about.

In closing, the Marine Marathon is about Charity,
More than 80 charities will purchase slots from the Marathon this year and form teams that raise money for various causes.

One such charity is the Semper Fi Fund, which provides financial aid to injured Marines.

I'm not talking about proving a point, I'm talking about having to take a shit. I once shit into a McDonald's paper bag in a phone booth downtown Edmonton in the middle of the afternoon. I've shit off the side of a moving freight train, the side of a boat, off a 4 story building, and once into a mall fountain in WEM. I am Canada's mad gangsta of shitting...

Step to me, you might get shit on you...

I also picked off Chad Kroger in the shoulder with a Cinnzeo cinnamon roll from the second story of WEM in front of HMV during a CD signing. But that's an unrelated story. I can't actually shit as accurately as I can hurl sticky buns...

IllTestYourGirls 10-12-2010 03:06 PM

Jon Stewart can't take a joke?

There was not anything political mentioned at all...and as far as Palin speaking...she is a religious nut in that she believes the Bible (I assume the King James version) to be the inerrant...literal word of God. There probably would not have been as many people attend the rally had Beck announced before hand that "the day that will change America" was going to be a religious sermon.

EZRhino 10-13-2010 03:43 PM

Its amazing to hear all the hate going to my brothers for not sharing the shit houses and calling it a waste of money and spending money with no oversight. But you have liberal politicians stealing money from taxpayers (literaly) and the Speak of the House using government run private jets to send her family on vacations. Should we fire the them for wasting funds?
Im just saying.

gloryholeprincess 10-13-2010 09:31 PM

The best part is that "We the People" are probably paying for those Port-a-Potties!!
Of course, maybe the Republicans privatized the Marines so we are not actually paying for their marathon. :D

Yep The Beckerhead is trying to promote the meme that his Mormon religion will be here to save us from ourselves. Problem is he veils it so that his minions think he is christian like them.
