iPad usage in a day2day work flow for Adult/XXX

How are you using your iPad on a daily basis for work?

I do use it to write quick blog posts, but I'm looking for more ways to use it.

How do you use your iPad?

It would probably make a great coaster for coffee

Ask Jake, he just discovered how to use an ipad to order pizza.

I've got 2 power house PCs, a touchscreen PC, and Mac Lappie to run my daily business from. I can't think of a single usage for a iPad that would streamline things for me... but I would love to be shown one. Always room for innovation, when it makes sense.

My Ipad is used a few ways but I'm not sure I would say that it stream lines work at all more then if I just used a laptop with similar battery life.

I use a network of laptops in my office each with its' own use so it can be a bitch when working on the weekends or at night and not wanting to sit at a desk. When I want to enjoy some downtime. Before my Ipad I would just use 1 of the laptops or my phone to do the same as I do on the Ipad...

I won’t bother listing the app names because everything I do on the thing has 5-10 other apps the do the same things so just grab ones that you like the look and feel to.

1- Remote desk top app to get into and check every laptop and a few servers should I not be at my desk and want or need to get at some info.

2- Email app downloads all my email accounts (I limit storing of emails to the last 3 days any old emails I can login)

3- pdf/office app- lets me read write edit etc attachments or saved files.

4-google analytics app -

5- Ftp app

6- App to transfer files from any laptop/pc/server to the Ipad

7- multi Messenger app for ICQ MSN skype etc. that lets me select each account I want live at any given time.

8- rss/xml/news app - lets me read news I want to access to well I'm having a coffee

9- VoIP app

10- Wireless mouse and keyboard app that controls all the laptops... (Not really used much for work, more just used for the media pc connected to the TV)

11- Basic photo editing app (used to quickly make banners and edit screen caps to show others what I'm thinking by drawing on or editing the screen cap.)

12- project management app that lets me email in PDF format a project outline along with timeline, order of tasks that need to be done and who is responsible for what parts.

Between the Ipad sitting on my nightstand or coffee table I find it adds a few hours to my work week of productive time and also saves me some times in that people are waiting on my replies less then if I was less connected.

Having an active digitizer convertible for several years already I can say that in a folded mode (with keyboard covered) it's mostly a toy, well, a good toy, but not a biz tool. The only use for iPad is to help Apple in revenue growth.

Good info PAR, thanks!

What google analytics app do you like/use?

SomeCreep 10-11-2010 03:16 AM

i play the keyboard on it.

Hellfire 10-11-2010 03:33 AM

I personally not found any way i can use it for our job. Looks like people buying it to follow the trends and some social network playing.

calvinawe 10-11-2010 03:36 AM

i might be dull but i've never found out what could be a good use for an ipad, other than carrying it to meetings instead of a notebook.

I was not looking for an Ipad, it just ended up on my lap one day for a price I could not say no to. Living where it's sunny most of the time... it's nice to have the brighter screen and I don't have too many issues with sand few openings when out near the beach.

At the end of the day it's just a toy...
Most of the game kinda suck ass.. as do a good number of the apps.
No sim card ver will mean that its use drops by more then half anytime you are away from a Wifi connection..

Little issues with it..
My main issues was that I can't have a guest account should someone be over and they want to check their email. Or hidden folders etc.. unlocking it and adding bbsettings fixed this issue and Backgrounder fix the other issue of not being able to run any app in the background. Frash opens up basic flash (no video support yet)

google analytics - Analytics HD
FTP - FTPonTheGo
VNC Viewer
Iteleport
Jump
Files HD
DosToGo
Office HD
Air Mouse
ProjectPlan HD
Manage
+IM Pro
Browser - I use and App Call Desktop can have split screen browsing and some other small functions that can come in handy
VOIP - iSip
Flip board
News Pro
PS express (photo shop express)

Depending on your office setup, I also use "iCam" to view and use webcams as part of the home office security system.

I also have yet to use it to expand my desktop mostly because I don’t want to deal with the possible bugs etc. so I'm giving it more time.

A a true del. button and not just a backspace button would be nice..

I saw a number of people at the Barcelona show using theirs to take notes during the lectures. I could see that as being useful rather than lugging out a laptop. At home though, I don't see why I wouldn't just use the laptop if I didn't want to be at my desk.

Jam it under the wobbly table leg that the real pc sits on.

GTS Mark 10-11-2010 05:36 AM

I use it to read gfy sometimes hehe

leg4 10-11-2010 11:59 PM
