Why have tube sites become the technical leaders?

The porn business was always said to be an innovation leader. Most paysites are slacking, though.
Why are tube sites leading in technical regard?

when you have free inventory you can spend money on innovation...

to be honest, I never considered porn business led anything in terms of innovation. Furthermore, it was always 2-3 years behind on average, I can't even count the times I was asked to do something based on some mainstream example done a few years earlier. If anything, adult industry was always (and still is) afraid of innovation until it is fully tested and proven.

As for tnaflix / empflix, they're always looking for developers, you can see that on their main page, so you could say they're an exception and they're always looking to innovate, but just in case, that exact 3d wall exists since at least 4 years ago

on a side note, nice collection of illegal/stolen content :1orglaugh

What are they leading in? Putting at tube script on their server and letting it run itself? Wow! Impressive!

I assume he means the flash 3d wall and the flash categories and pseudo streaming done via XML

Dirty Dane 10-08-2010 05:24 PM

I've seen that 3d wall script long time ago, it can be licensed. Looks like they stole it :1orglaugh

Too much flash sucks and it's not SEO friendly. But maybe that's positive if you want to hide stolen movies.

Okay. The first time I saw pseudo streaming was a guy who built an flv player called xmoov

I've been using that for a few years now. I use it on all CM's hosted galleries and tour trailers.

So I guess I am a "technical leader" since I've been doing that since before most tube sites existed? lol

Robbie 10-08-2010 05:36 PM

pseudo streaming:

And the XML part is only used to configure it.

Yeah, pretty sure Clement did those kinds of things (video wall) first years and years ago for Videosz

And flash sucks big time to build an entire site around it. Not only for SEO, but just for using it in general. It works best when sprinkled in like a seasoning. lol

ha ha, I'm not telling it's new, as I said I've seen it many years ago, just mentioning what he could see as "innovation"

harvey 10-08-2010 06:09 PM

on a side note, if anyone is looking for this 3D Wall, here you can get it for just under $60

Yeah I know. It's just funny how somehow tube sites are taking credit for this "innovation" that has been around for a while. Pay sites are always the first to jump on stuff. But people don't realize that because at most a paysite has a few thousand members. Whereas a tube might have millions of visitors a day.

My guess is that very few tube sites spend the money and time to get the newest thing while it's still new. They wait around and grab it when the price comes down years later and then everybody in the general public sees it and goes: "Oh my God! They are the 'leaders'!"

Reality is that lots of people in this business quietly improve, tweak and innovate all the time for their member base.

How innovative! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Wouldn't it be something if a tube site actually did create ANYTHING in any dept.?

All I see that they ever did was take a cool idea from YouTube, buy a script from a programmer, tell him what they needed done (to be able to handle large traffic, user features, type of player) and then use it for stolen content.

I know I'm not overly impressed with any of that, except for the fact that they have actually gotten away with that for a couple of years.

Davy 10-09-2010 10:54 AM

Okay, you guys convinced me. Tube sites often use a whole array of available tools and white label stuff.

Btw: I wish Claudia Marie would not have added those ugly silicone tits.
Most of the guys who are into chubby women don't like them (including me).

Nautilus 10-09-2010 12:24 PM

lol

No we just had her monster tits filled up. No secret anti-gravity involved. I think they looked good before, and I think they look great now. But I'm a total big tit lover...never understood all the "fake vs real" debate. And since we just had a record sales month on her site for Sept. and Oct. is forecast in Stats Remote to be another 15% bigger...it seems that the majority of people who are fans of big tits are just like me. :)

Here she is at this years Phoenix Forum no implants:

And her she is now with implants:

Claudia Marie isn't fat. :1orglaugh

topsiteking 10-09-2010 04:02 PM

It's her face I have the issue with.

I didn't say she is fat.
Maybe ask Claudia herself why she always pulled down her top over her belly in this video:
http://www.tnaflix.com/big-boobs/Cla...se/video121085

She's chubby. And that is good. What's not so good are the fake tits, imho.
Here's something a guy wrote on a chubby board:
Quote:

oh damn! damn it!!! I'm almost cryin!
[Claudia Marie] was one of my fav girl and look at her now!
she seems to wear two football balloon instead of two soft big boobs!
I want her tits back!

Maxi 10-11-2010 09:13 AM

You call that innovation? Thats a useless fucking gimmick. Why do people build shit that they themselves wouldn't use is beyond me. WooOOo 3D wall, I just can't fap unless my free porn is presented in a flying 3D wall. Also lol, no fucking affiliate links, I guess they don't wanna make money.

Please don't call this innovation. It's just the 2010 version of flashing text, marquees and too many animated gifs.

Everybody has likes and dislikes, and you can't please everybody. Fortunately there are billions of people on the planet and plenty of differing opinions.

We honestly broke all sales records for Claudia-Marie.Com in Sept. and at this point Stats Remote is showing us breaking Sept. record in October. That's saying a lot to me because CM's site has just been a monster since day one that I opened it. I never thought we'd approach the same amounts of initial sales as we had in the beginning but we just surpassed that in Sept. and are on course to beat that in Oct.

We also have a "Wall" in the members area (the people whose opinion means the most to me). And the crowd roared it's approval on there. So I'm happy!

Now back to the REAL subject: Hey, tubes haven't innovated shit. BUT, they've been a lot quicker than most of you out there to keep up with what people want.

A lot of things are just fads or at the very least overrated. I always snicker when people talk of 3D porn or even HD. Yes some people will appreciate it but you know it's usually the affiliate rep or the webmaster who appreciates it the most since they are trying to make money from it. It reminds me of those who thought a person should spend 12 hours on each TGP gallery template and freesite back in 2003. Same shit different day. When it comes down to it the surfer cares most about finding the content they want that "does the job." That's basically it!

While I still think Tube sites > MGP > TGP > Blog > Text TGP/MGP > Text Link List as far as surfer experience, it's still not the end all of porn. There's a lot of room for improvement and we're bound to see more evolution yet. I think a lot of that might revolve around making it easier for the surfer to find exactly what they want (as far as content traits).

No affiliate program is getting to be more common these days. I guess it's better than having one for a few years to build up your brand and then removing it. At least from the affiliate perspective. But in most cases these days the affiliate model is more of a bad deal for the affiliate not the content/service owner.
