Moved here for the snowboarding at Red Mountain Resort after Snowboard Canada declared it one of the best places in North America to drop cliffs. Lived in Lake Louise for a couple seasons before coming out here and rode at the Lake and around Banff. Been pretty lame on the riding for the last couple seasons though, but I'm a fucking powder snob and the snow here hasn't been great for a couple years. Not a big fan of ice and crust. I'm mostly just here for the partying unless it plans on dumping this year. Might do a Revelstoke trip this year and get in some real snow.I want to see some 30 cent days up here this year FFS. I've been around Fernie a fair bit, had a bunch of friends doign Pine Beetle count or some shit out in Sparwood for the summer...

I remember making snow cones with tequila last time I was North of CA.

sweet. i lived in Banff from 2000-03, then Whistler '03 to '10, and finally decided to leave Whis after almost 8 years. We are digging Fernie big time, everything is cheap like borscht, and not so many fucking tourists. still have my place in Whistler as well, but it is listed. we should hook up for a day (on a good day ie pow).

cheers

Rosssland is next to zero tourists. Lots of ski bums though. Tends to be a crew that moves in every year and sticks around for the season. No lift lines to worry about here, and lots of opportunities for fresh lines. Especially if you like to get out backcountry. you'll ride powder every day. I'm too fucking azy to go touring though. :1orglaugh Got a good crew out here and I like sticking around for the party. A lot of people around here who are ex-Fernie. There was a big migration about 4-5 years ago when the powder was dumping hard. A few ex-Whistler people around too. My roommate was actually from Whistler before she came out here. You would have been around same times as some of my friends out here.

very impressed so far (a couple of months in). we'll see how it all plays out, but i am done moving, and spent years figuring out where to make the jump. looked at everything (literally), got a crazy good deal due to the current market, perfect location, and awesome downhill biking as well (would have been a deal killer). place is far nicer than my place in Whis, and it's a 1/3 the price. feel free to come up for a bit, lots of room :)
