St Kitts Tells Me I Need My Passport Noterized??

So I call my bank, post office and they have never heard of a passport being noterized EVER and will not do it. I call St kitts and they told me I need my passport noterized by a lawyer..I call my lawyer he tells me what do they mean? St kitts tells me I need to get my passport copied and then noterized the copy?? My lawyers secretary says that might be illegal. She has to ask my lawyer and I'm waiting on a call back.. This is fucking rediculous

BetChips 10-06-2010 01:24 PM

How much do you have locked in VV?

i already posted on a similar thread about having the same issue ...
no one wanted to notarize the copy , it is not illegal it is just apparently not a common practice in US, it is done all the time where i come from ...
i wrote on the copy something like '' i sware this is a valid copy of my pass'' and they notarized my statement and signature basically
try that

AzteK 10-06-2010 01:27 PM

It doesn't sound illegal to me. A passport is an international ID and they're just trying to see if the copy you're going to send them is a valid copy.

I'm not a lawyer, I just play one on TV.

You might have better luck if you used correct spelling.

heymatty 10-06-2010 01:28 PM

Last time I needed to notarize something a found a local guy in google and he just game to my house. Was $30 I think.

I wish it was this easy but they will not accept it unless a lawyer noterizes it AND a lawyer signs it and I sign it.

mn 10-06-2010 01:30 PM

its easy to get something notarized... and not expensive

Why a lawyer ? I went to the county clerk office and got it done ...

epitome 10-06-2010 01:34 PM

As someone above suggested, make a copy of your passport, add a statement like "I attest under the penalty of perjury that this is a true copy of my valid passport." Do not sign it until you are in front of the notary. Notary's are everywhere ... even a lot of liquor stores have one. Your state may have a directory of them online. I've known notary's to charge as little as $2 to $5.

How many languages do you speak?

gumdrop 10-06-2010 01:34 PM

In some jurisdictions you can use notary public as well to notarize your copy. Some charge anywhere from $10.00 - $50.00 to put their rubber stamp on it.

DBS.US 10-06-2010 01:34 PM

They want you to photo copy your passport and have a lawyer notarizes the copy.

rewn 10-06-2010 01:35 PM

Thats common practice , it proves who you are with photo id.

roxxx 10-06-2010 01:37 PM

My question .. who contacted who?

U called St. Kitts or they called/ mailed you?

Miguel 10-06-2010 01:37 PM

Find an attorneys office which provides Appostile notarization. That's all.

beerptrol 10-06-2010 01:41 PM

It cost $1.50 to have the local bank notarized something

On the ''Instructions for completion of information required '' that i recieved from the bank says :

'' copies of documents requiring certification must be certified by a Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths.''

I personally went with a notary ...

AdultEUhost 10-06-2010 01:53 PM

You can get your passport legalized by an embassy / consulate (if you are abroad) or notary. Nothing weird here, every notary will know what you mean.

alias 10-06-2010 01:54 PM

and drawl

I have had to do that before. The copy needs to notarized to prove that is is a true copy of the original. :2 cents:

Fatalspeed 10-06-2010 02:06 PM

I have the same and must verify my account.. not a big deal but my passport expired this week and they ask a lot. And it's gonna take another 5-10 days after they get all the documents...

"Attach a statement explaining source of funds for all funds currently on card", they want just a general statement about where the funds come from or do they need to know every single sponsor/program for every single payment?!

DavieVegas 10-06-2010 02:10 PM

Well I am getting copies of it now and trying the notary public part..they told me a lawyer needs to noterize it so I hope it works

Whats the big deal? Many companies(banks, brokers, etc) ask for it, its pretty much a standard thing. If your lawyer never heard of such a thing...well, replace him quick, until you need him badly and his stupidity will be dangerous for you.

fuzebox 10-06-2010 02:30 PM

Notarizing a passport copy is a pretty common thing... Hell I had do it a couple of weeks ago for something unrelated.

Pipecrew 10-06-2010 02:38 PM

Recently a legit notary public stamp was delivered to my house by accident and i could not figure out who it was meant for. I think it just went up in value ;)

PSD 10-06-2010 02:42 PM

Any option to providing a passporte, I have not had one in years.

yes me to and my passport expired 8 days before, now I need to wait for new one :Oh crap

nmbr6 10-06-2010 03:31 PM

Hell, E-Pass made me send a picture of me holding my passport to prove it was me

garce 10-06-2010 03:31 PM

When Epass asked me for documents, I didn't bother with my drivers license (which I no longer have, anyways), passports, or health card copies. I just hit my lawyer up.

He whipped me up an official document, and I uploaded it to Epass. Good to go. Didn't charge me for it, either. He even notorized my utility bill copy and the copy of my CC they requested.

Agent 488 10-06-2010 03:32 PM

just take it to a justice of the peace not rocket science here.

Are you ESL or no? If so, I apologize to you, if not . . .

Enough to be polite in the countries I visit. I don't give legal advice in any of them though. To be honest, his post did not come across as written by someone that is ESL.

Actually yes, i am Romanian and have been living in US for 4 years ... besides that i dont pretend to give legal advice on here, i simply share my experiences and whatever worked or not for me since this whole mess started..

.i have been making sure to finish my statements with '' this is what i was told''; ''this is what i did'' or ''i could be wrong'' which means what i say it is obviously based on my own research and if i find something that works for me i am always happy to share it with others... and they can take from it what they want...

Konda 10-06-2010 06:55 PM

For the people that have been asked to send in verification documents, did the bank contact you or did you contact the bank? I haven't heard anything, does that mean my card should work today? Or do you have to contact them to get the card activated?

i contacted the bank and they let me know i needed more documents. and mine was already verified with epassporte. so i suggest people contact them already to get it rollin'

lol_cat 10-06-2010 07:44 PM

What countries are you guys in and how much are in your cards?

Maybe it's everyone outside USA who needs to verify or something.
