Randy Moss' improbable return to Minnesota is about to become reality.

The Vikings and the Patriots are planning to complete the blockbuster trade that will send the Pro Bowl wide receiver back to Minnesota on Wednesday, multiple league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Vikings will send the Patriots their third-round pick in the 2011 draft in return for Moss, a league source told Schefter.

NFL sources told Schefter the deal moved closer to completion Tuesday night. Two well-placed league sources predicted the trade will be consummated Wednesday.

Theoretically, Moss+Favre=championship.

He's in the last year of his contract in NE and apparently being a real pain in the ass (shocker).

Caligari 10-06-2010 06:21 AM

he had a great if short lived duo going with culpepper back in the day, possibly he and favre will make some gold.
can't believe hes going back with the vikes! they definitely need a shot of adrenalin about now.

charlie g 10-06-2010 06:24 AM

I think it is a good trade for both potentially. I doubt the vikes give up anything big for him tho.

J. Falcon 10-06-2010 06:27 AM

It's official now.

Cradle 10-06-2010 06:31 AM

yeah i just hope he plays well being they havent gotten a contract yet which is something he really wanted

cwd 10-06-2010 06:49 AM

Bill Belichick doesn't put up with nonsense idiots. The second Moss started being a distraction, "he gone".

Belichick has a history of letting guys go at the right time. This seems about right to me. He may have a decent year the rest of the season but his subsequent seasons won't be nearly as good.

Also, to the one who said Favre + Moss = superbowl or whatever. Keep dreaming. Favre is done, last year was his last good season. They'll make the playoffs with Favre + Moss but, they'll lose in the first round.

alexchechs 10-06-2010 07:38 AM

Favre will now have no excuses... none what so ever... get the job done grandpa

So happy to see #84 coming home!! One of my all time favorite football players, what he did in Minnesota was just unbelievable.

dyna mo 10-06-2010 08:05 AM

i guess that explains why he had zero catches the other nite.

The Demon 10-06-2010 08:14 AM

Why can't we have a Manning vs. Favre/Moss Superbowl? Oh please oh please oh please.

cwd 10-06-2010 09:17 AM

I don't know, giving up a future Hall of Famer who has given your team over 1000 yards each season and a total of 50 tds in his 3+ years for a third round pick? I just don't see how this makes the Patriots better...

I agree, it's going to be cool to see him back in Minnesota.

I think he'll have an amazing year now.

They gave up a thrid round pick. I think Moss will help the Vikings no doubt. I like the old man combo. Believe me Farve will be going to him ALL the time, just what he wants :) Nice move Vickings.

*Side note. I wish my Chargers would look at stealing that beast albert haynesworth. I know he hates his team now, he should come play for the Chargers. Just a thought.

I wondered the same exact thing. The only thing I could think of is that they wouldn't have to pay him all that money to renew a contract, other than that, the Vikings really got the better end of the deal.

It's impossible to say who got the better end of the deal until we see who that 3rd round pick turns out to be, and what he develops into.

Tom Brady, for example, was picked in the 6th round... so you never know. :2 cents:

all favre has to do is get the ball in Moss' general direction and thats it, he doesnt have to be as good as he was last season with someone like Moss catching the balls.
