So Tebaggers are different other politicians?

In a secretly taped recording, Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle badmouths the GOP establishment and wheedles a minor-party candidate to support her campaign, offering help opening doors in Washington if she's elected.

I though the tea party was against politics as usual? She sounds ready made for DC lifestyle.

It is kind of like how Rand Paul said he would never accept money from anyone who voted for the bailout. Then as soon as he won the republican primary in Kentucky he went to Washington DC and attended a $1000 a plate fund raiser that was put on by Mitch McConnell who actually had voted for the bail out.

Yeah but McConnell was against the bail out before he was for it so it sort of counts.

Oh and is this the same bailout that is actually going to return a several billion dollar PROFIT for the US?

she is right though, what they're doing is becoming the new GOP. Taking over from within and purging the corrupt porkers, like Bennett in Utah and Murkowski or Castle.

It used to be impossible to get rid of an incumbent but not any more. They're looking over their shoulders and are rightly worried.

Tea partiers want true fiscal conservatives so there is an alternative in place when big spending liberal policies inevitably fail

The question is: will they tow that line when they get into office or will they cave from the heavy pressure of their party leaders. If they tow the line, great it will force people to balance budgets and be more fiscally responsible. If not, it is just business as usual with different faces.

Rand Paul won't cave, his dad never has and he won't either. He means it when he says spending is out of control and he says spending must be cut with everything on the table including military spending which the GOP won't accept but will have to if he and a few others stand up and bring the Senate to a halt and force them to get 60 votes for cloture. This will put many pols at risk of a primary if they dont confront the issues

I dont know about the others. Joe Miller sounds like he gets it, Angle too and Ken Buck. These are small victories for tea partiers, they can't win them all and some establishment GOPers who are truly horrible won primaries like in Indiana (Coats).. Mike Lee is also very good and he's won already in Utah the others are in contested races and deserve support

It's going to be very interesting if this batch prevail and go to Washington

Are you saying that a politician running for public office is not actually an idealistic activist but rather a self serving political operator??? I am shocked. My whole world view is crumbling. :upsidedow

but Rand is different in that he's an eye doctor who doesn't owe his allegiance to the political system, he is funded by small donors like these other candidates and in most cases beat establishment candidates in primaries.

I really can't speak of the others. Buck and Miller are lawyers with a similar profile to a lot of pols but Mike Lee was a constitutional lawyer so I think he understands the issues better and can be an ally.

When Rand goes to the Senate he is going to force them to confront the issues and he will have allies I'm sure of that including some who are already there but haven't had the courage to pipe up like DeMint and Coburn.

A block of 5-10 senators can bring everything to a halt, fillibuster, stall and force them to get 60 votes which is going to be difficult and will mean the GOP moderates will have to cross the lines and that is going to be dangerous for those up for election 2012 and 2014 as they will see what happened to Bennett and Murkowski who faced primary challenges.

Should be fun but won't happen unless you support these candidates. Support the ones you like or think are genuine.
