Why VISA will continue to assfuck us.
I quote:
"Special Offer to new Members!!!! Click here to signup for a 3 day No Charge Membership to Full On Movies - Three Day No Charge Trial Membership. After 3 days, Membership renews automatically at $40.00 every 1 month. Click here to signup for a 3 day No Charge Membership to E-Help Shop - Three Day Trial Membership. After 3 days, Membership renews automatically at $18.92 every 1 month. (Please be patient after submitting the form.. this might take up to 2 minutes) There is NO CHARGE for the intial 30 minute preview. After the preview you will receive a 1 day trial membership for only $10.00(unless cancelled). Thereafter you will be billed $40.00 every 1 month(s) until cancelled." The funniest thing about this is that the programs use schemes like this JUST SO THEY CAN GET AFFILIATES! If they weren't promising $50 per free signup they'd never need all these little surfer scams to make up for it. Why bother being original and getting sites that convert on revenue sharing models when you can buy a bunch of plugins and charge your surfer a whopping ONE HUNDRED AND NINE bucks within 3 days of filling out a form on your website. This has got to stop, these people will not only somehow manage to keep processing (Epoch should definitely be ashamed of themselves for allowing this kind of thing) but they'll just come up with more ways to screw the surfer. That's about all I have to say about this. If anyone somehow feels this is okay, go for it. |
I agree with you but I belive in evolution. A lot of these guys are gonna die a slow death like a short necked giraffe.
When it comes to paysites, I used to believe in doing what it takes to get signups and not even give a shit about the members. I still dont really give a shit about them, but they must be kept happy. Good customer service, very high quality content, various different incentives to stay a member. I think the business formula for alot of programs has gotten kind of screwed up. Paying 35 bucks for a 3 day trial to a cookie cutter site. End result is gotta do stuff like cross sales, super hard scrubbing, super aggressive consoles. |

effects everybody in the long run, thats the problem |
its all good.... they key now is to make sure the surfer really takes it up the ass.... this way they feel so violated they are scared to chargeback.
Kind of why rape victims rarely go to the police:winkwink: |
Glad someone gives a shit about the long run.

No offense, but quit bitching. You try to pay people 40-50 per join w/o shaving 75% and see if you can afford it with one simple membership.
The reality is that you can't compete without the cross sales/very high payouts (unreasonably such without cross sales). Sorry, but that's just the way it is :( I'm sure everyone who runs per sign up program will agree. Although I don't at all think this is the best way to be profitable, but it really is the only way for a per sign up program, because it's what everyone else does :( Although it sounds warm and fuzzy, I doubt anyone would sign up for an 'honest' program that pays $20 per join... |

Donnie, look at the biggest players. ARS, MaxCash, would they ever have cross bills? They don't because they play a different type of numbers game. Have quality content (or at lot of it at least) in your members areas, and let the recurring build to cover your initial losses on per-signup. That USED to be the way you did it, you started with a bankroll and built your empire with good sites.
Thanks to Epoch turning a blind eye now anyone can run a PPS program. They use traffic leaks galore, crossbills, 30 minute trials, and exorbident prices to combat the astronomical refund and cancel rates. And somehow it works, and somehow they don't go over the 1% cb threshold YET. These idiots will end up costing us more money and time in VISA and MC regs, mark my words. Charging someone $109 for 31 days of paysite access with the explanation text written in 8 point font will not fly. |
Topbucks has two ezclicks and an approval plus membership. Silvercash does as well.
|
Why do they do it? Because they CAN. They will never have to worry about 1%+ CB ratios because they've been running strong programs forever. Most of them crossbill to their own sites. SIC does it, Platinum Bucks does it, plenty more do it. The dangerous ones are the new guys with less of a bankroll who keep pushing payouts higher by ripping the surfer worse and worse. Remember 0 Liability? VISA has it on all their ads, so does MasterCard, hard to miss it. The merchant is not the winner here, the merchant never wins. And as a result, we all will lose.

Ahh, knew it was only a matter of time.

btw, you are an idiot if you think just because some of the old school companies that do cross sales are more legit, then a new company just starting out. You must be a republican.. afraid of change. haha |
You'll learn soon enough. Unlike GFY, once VISA bans you any amount of calling up and whining won't get you back in.
Keep us posted. |

Why do people think chargebacks are a prob? They aren't for us ... just give credit to anyone who asks and there won't be any chargebacks.. how hard is this to figure out :) This sucks, but that's the way the processors do it....
