All these epassporte replacements...

So everyone is flocking to these alternative lesser known smaller companies providing similar services to ePassporte, as well as the programs setting up payment plans using them.

The only problem is that these companies are just as likely if not more likely to fuck up just like ePassporte is, aren't you supposed to learn from your mistakes?

I think it's a good time and plenty of reason to just start getting snail mailed checks again. :2 cents:

Oh I haven't seen any mention of being careful with these other random companies. But then again I don't check out the 248237489273 epassporte threads lol.

Jakez, for many webmasters outside of US checks is probably the worst form of payment.
It takes too long to cash them - up to 2-3 months, fees are pretty high and checks can easily get lost on it's way to affiliates.

adult-help 10-02-2010 11:40 PM

I see absolutely no point going with alternatives if the sponsors who pay you wont use them as payment solution.

and yes, checks are usual in usa but the rest of the world really doesnt use checks anymore - they are ancient form of payment. It is very rare to pay anything with the check in EU - probably most checks that are cashed are from USA..

Darkcrni 10-03-2010 01:58 AM

You are still not getting it that I will rather risk $300 instead of paying $40 for each fucking wire thransfer or waiting 2 weeks to cash-out a fuckin check. Especially if you have sponsors earning you $100 monthly.

Idiot.

Jakez 10-03-2010 05:49 PM

2-3 months to cash a check? Holy shit.. I didn't know it takes that long, it only takes 5 business days for checks to arrive to me from outside the US (less time IN US obviously) and then I can deposit it the same day with no hold..

Unless you don't have enough money in your bank account to cover the check I don't see why it would take months to clear it?

Nasty 10-03-2010 06:09 PM

I really liked epassporte but I have no plans on gambling on a replacement, its checks for a while

We should all stop promoting sponsors as well.. They fuck up and run off with our money far more often... oh wait................... Gee.. I guess there are risks with everything in this business and we just have to manage it properly.

Because #1, you're in the U.S. and #2, the checks you are receiving from abroad are likely denominated in $US Dollars.

Regarding those in the U.S. ... checks not in $USD and/or not drawn on a U.S. bank, most banks will not even credit the amount, let alone even cash the check - they will send it to collections, who will then calculate the amount in $USD less fees. That takes time, and can involves a lengthy hold depending on the currency and where the check originated.

FYI: When a check is "cleared", the depositor is, in effect, granted a provisional loan for the amount (the bank can take the funds back, potentially resulting in a negative account balance) - it's NOT your money until the check becomes "final", which can be way later...

For domestic, that's typically 10 business days after deposit. For international, 30 days is a good rule of thumb, but there is no set time for a non-domestic check becoming "final".

For people outside the U.S., especially in countries that have limited banking options, banks tend to be very slow with processing checks, assuming they even can.

If you can't deal with checks than use different sponsors. Nobody is forcing you to take checks. It's just the price of doing business. Handling US dollars has taken on a whole new perspective for both payors and payees.

2 months to process 1000$ check from ccbill is needed here. Also my account is frozen during processing period,i can put money on account but cant take it out.

HerPimp 10-03-2010 06:43 PM

Wire transfers and online banking seems to be the better way to go. Electronically it is easier to keep track of your money, checks throw many of us off.

fuck off retard.

Jarmusch 10-03-2010 09:52 PM

That's why I'm going with Payoneer (for now). Unlike some of these alternatives that popped up this year, Payoneer has been around for almost 6 years. Plus it's what most sponsors are using as an alternative to epass.

That doesn't mean they won't go down like epass did, but then I don't plan on keeping more than $XX at any time in the card.

blonda80 10-03-2010 10:47 PM

checks are a pain in the ass in my country. i really hate them!

CashX 10-03-2010 11:15 PM

Once

It happened to me that I need to wait 5 months to cash check. I don't know, why, and I've forgot completely, and only thing that reminded me was my ebanking screen with some strange info that was irritating to watch all the tome. Also, check are something I hate most and I have several now waiting and I even didn't bother to go to bank to cash them (small amounts).
