Oh, I am sure we all know it is more than a tad silly. When people like PersianKitty can't give rep simply because they haven't posted enough I am sure we all know it doesn't really stand for anything.

I've ADMINed forums before and tried rep systems and in all cases ended up pulling them because of misuse. Not saying this will happen on GFY......................

Rep systems work well in theory but in the real world "issues" develope. IF you can call interent forums the real world.

I've been mod for this forum and I really don't see the point of it. But then I wasn't allowed to talk about politics when I was a mod or about guns!!! LMAO

Since this started, I've been red, green and whatever that color is when you have 0, so if someone wants to give me red or green, I really don't care

Rather possibly but if that was the adult table we are all in trouble.

well, I gave a formula in one of those rep threads (now lost!) that took into account post count (as in fact a negative factor for very high post counts) and how much you'd been rep'd today (another negative factor).

By playing with the formula on random people (I had to assume people like JDL had been repped a lot in a day) it worked out quite well to determine whether a person could give rep or not.

Anyway, it amused me briefly to figure a formula out and now it's gone. It will stay simple I'm sure.

In the 'ooooh, shiny thing!' category. It will fade.

One can only hope. Although I do see the potential for fun with those that take it seriously. For it to have any value, we have to be able to see who repped whom.

I only just figured out yesterday that you can see who repped you in your User cp. Which I learned in a post from Candyflip that I then repped. Stay tuned for the next episode of How The Rep Turns...
