This Ever Happen To You On An Airplane?

I was flying back to Toronto the other day from the show in Amsterdam and went to use the facilties. When i entered the lavatory i noticed one of the compartments was ripped open and a whole bunch of plumbing and wiring was exposed! I kind of freaked at first and thought someone had planted a device or something.

I left immediately and notified a flight attendant, he got up immediately and went and checked. He said he would have to report it to the pilot and was quite freaked as well....

Obviously nothing happened or i would'nt be here typing this up but it gave me a good scare. They did a passport check right at the gate most likely because of this issue coming up.

Last year i came back from Amsterdam a middle eastern dude got pulled off the plane while we were on the tarmac about to take off. We had to de-plane and go thru a very brutal screening process to board again. They also had to bring out the dogs and the security to check out the plane.

Fucking amsterdam flights everytime!!! LOL!

fatfoo 09-28-2010 07:28 PM

I am not a plumber and I am not an expert on constructions. However, I assume that it's a bad thing if many wires are sticking out (especially with metal ends). Good luck. A thing like you described never happened to me.

AnimeFevers 09-28-2010 08:22 PM

Never had that happen to me and I fly on KLM (not a very good airline)

pornjudge 09-28-2010 08:36 PM

not exactly the same as you but once I opened the door & A woman was wiping her ass clean... :Oh crap

Major (Tom) 09-28-2010 08:51 PM

I was in the airport there and there was a brown box just sitting there. No one is paying any mind to it. Sherm, Baddog, and I were like whoa. If this were the USA this place would be shut down.

ShellyCrash 09-28-2010 09:32 PM

That's nuts. If I would have seen that I probably would have assumed it was piss poor airline maintenence. Be really nutty if someone on the flight was trying to screw around with that stuff. I wonder what they could be doing?

WiredGuy 09-28-2010 11:03 PM

You're always causing trouble. I'm not flying with you!

Hey, nice seeing you and spending time in BCN. Not sure I saw you after we arrived at the hotel in AMS.

I actually dropped a bomb on a plane.

A few years back I went to use the bathroom on the plane, had no choice but to let the dogs out, damn thing backed up. Damn was that embarrassing, thankfully no one was waiting to use it behind me but i do feel bad for the people who had to clean that up. And no i didn't notify anyone but I bet they were still pissed when they found it.

Wish it could be like this, all the time:

you are a right man for security job :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Pornopat 09-29-2010 03:09 AM

It must have been that gay dude from the drunk sailor bar.
They always do weird stuff in bathrooms.

Sarah_Jayne 09-29-2010 03:34 AM

You did the right thing.

I found the BCN security people to be some of the most frustrating I have dealt with in a long time. They made nearly everybody go through the screening process and machines at least twice. Mostly because they couldn't communicate what they wanted you to do with non-Spanish speakers. The woman in front of me in the security line nearly broke down in tears because she didn't speak Spanish and didn't understand that the guy was ordering her to put her laptop in one container and her carryon in another. They had her go through the thing three times each time arguing with her in Spanish until one of the other passengers stepped in in translated. Still, I guess it meant we were all really well screened.

Admit it Mark, you were looking for an epass wire.....hehe

gmr324 09-29-2010 06:33 AM

never happened to me, but you absolutely did the right thing..you wouldn't wanted to have looked back and wondered if you didn't report it

quiet 09-29-2010 06:34 AM

worst thing that ever happened me was on a plane heading into heavy turbulance. we all had our belts on, but there was an attendant still making her way to her seat. bam, plane dropped big time and she flew up and her head bounced off the top of the roof. knocked right out. a bunch of us got out of our seats and helped her up and put on the seat belt. crazy.

kowalsky 09-29-2010 06:39 AM

It never happened to me. However I take so many pills to sleep when I fly that usually I am very stupid walking around as a zombie. If I would see something like that, it would never call my attention...

Wow that's nuts! My friend's sister is a flight attendant and that has happened many times to her as well. A bunch of people got their ankles/feet broken when they didn't have their seatbelts on and hit heavy turbulence.

If you have been to Schipol airport in amsterdam they do security at the gate. I had to do that (again) before reboarding...Then on top of that we had to go thru a hand pat down and they went thru absolutely everything in our bags and questioned the shit out of us.

You have to do that from parts of Heathrow now too. It changed in the last year or so because it was only my most recent flight to the States (in Feb 2010) where it had moved to that level. I am not sure if you have to do that for anything other than flights to the States but it was a hugely long process. You had already gone through the normal security checks. Then there is a really long walk to a near separate wing of the airport where you then have to go through it all again but this time with nearly everybody's carry on being hand searched and passports being checked again.

All of which makes Heathrow even crappier to fly from.

I had to fly to Newark a week or so after 911 for my grandfather's funeral and it wasn't even that level then and trust me it was tight. Not as tight as the connecting flight in Paris though.

DWB 09-29-2010 07:02 AM

No, but when I make my flight from the USA to Tokyo (going to Bangkok), when I sit next to a pretty Japanese girl, I like to beat off a few times along the way in front of her. They never say anything.

jk or am I? ;-)

heathrow is my least favorite airport in the world.

It is a nightmare. Until I travelled as much as I am now I didn't really get its bad reputation but I do now. What is annoying is that you now pretty much have to fly from there to go to the States. I used to go out of my way to book US Airways to go home to Philly because despite not being the best of airlines they flew from Gatwick. Now with Heathrow's Terminal 5 even they have moved their direct flights to Heathrow. Boo and indeed hiss.

This is a big problem on Emirates Air, Etihad and some of the other flights that go between the Middle East and Pakistan and India. It's usually someone trying to rip out the smoke detector so they can grab a cigarette.

True, I am not plumber either, but I think this is right.

all that doesn't happen on inner european flights, i was actually surprised cause i had expected more after the recent discussions about this.

scarlettcontent 09-29-2010 08:52 AM

happens to me all the time, I hate wires and pipes sticking out when I go to the loo

Did not experience this at either location, coming or going.

I flew from Terminal 2 B which I have pretty much learned is so far away from the main airport I could have nearly walked back to the hotel in the time it took be to get between Terminal 1 (where the hotel shuttle dropped us) and there.
