Cost per member of a pay site
 

We are thinking of starting an afilliate program and how do I figure out the cost of each member to our site. As far bandwidth goes so I can figure if this would be profitable for me,I dont want to operate at a loss.

well, you've got a lot more to worry about than just bw costs...

bandwidth bill devided by active users = your answer

Bandwidth is the least of your worries...

Should be no more than $2 - 4 a member.

What other worries would there be? If we did it, it wouldnt be open to just anyone, only webmasters with good reputations. We are not that desperate for members that I would open to anyone.

Bandwidth, content, leased feeds/plugins, hosting (not synonymous with bandwidth), design, upkeep (paying someone to update member's area etc.), advertising/promotion, customer service...

Those arent worries we do that already. The site has been around for 3 years. We dont buy lease feeds or content everything is done in house:)
