windows boot time on your desktop computer ?
how long does it take from the second you hit the power button until your desktop is fully loaded and you can open your browser or mail client or whatever? 3 minutes ? 5 minutes ?
3-5 minutes.
Depends on how many startup programs u have and how much shit u have on your desktop. But yeah mine is about 3
anyone reached less than 3 minutes?
Since you didn't ask, I assume you assume everyone is using the same version of windows.

I have xp on my pc which is about 40 seconds, but my acer laptop with windows 7 hooks up within 15 maybe 20 seconds :2 cents: |
With Windows7 on my laptop I'd say ~1 to 1.5 minutes... it's really fast...
on my desktop (only 2gb of ram) about ~2 - 3 minutes... |
windows 7 - around 30 sec to 1 minute, with loads of apps installed (cs5 suite) and like 7 different browsers. :)
A matter of seconds. Then again i've configured everything nicely and have spent enough on the damn thing haha
(Windows 7 here, smacks the ass off Snow leopard) |
My Windows7 box when it only had an SSD was super fast. When I added a WD Caviar Black it got slower but still < 1 minute.
Windows 7 on a dell xps = 30 seconds or so...

About 3 minutes
2 hours 45 minutes.
Windows Vista : 4 Minutes 40 seconds on a Quad Core PC with 8GB Ram.
Mac OS/X : 21 Seconds on a Quad Core iMac27" with 8GB Ram. Mac win. |
win7 64bit SSD 27sec to fully working desktop
Less than 5 minutes. Productivity sometimes depends on how fast your computer loads software. Most of the time software loads fast, so your productivity depends on your typing speed, math skills and other skills. Good luck.
i'm on 6 minutes here on WinXP
windows 7.. around 25 secs or so
10-15 sec , lol windows 7 here
15 seconds... windows 7 and intel ssd :)

New box with Win7 is fast as fuck way less than a minute before i installed a lot of shit was seconds now maybe 40 sec, old box with xp slow as fuck 4 5 mins even more.
3 and 6 minutes? are you kidding me? Windows 7 here and I'm up in 20-25 seconds
i have small number of startup proggies (2 main), so under 2 minutes
M$ Win 7 w/ Intel Quad core ==> less than 30 seconds
For those with M$ who have said 2 minutes or more, how old is your computer and how many processes are you running (right click toolbar > select Task Manager > select processes)? Many programs can be disabled at startup, which will dramatically improve your computer performance. Besides the long load time at startup, all those programs running in the background will lower the performance of your computer and your productivity. You should only start the programs manually when you need them and not have them automatically load at startup. |
less than 20 seconds.
Windows XP Pro X64 on all boxes. |
17 seconds here windows 7 Ultimate, couldn't imagine waiting more then a minute at most lol.
im on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, with dual i7 980x 6 core, 12 gigs of ram, with intel ssd as my boot drive.

Less than 1min anyway.
