Can Greendot visa cards be used for payouts? anyone use them?
 

I found this greendot visas in a pharmacy, it seems they can be funded via ACH and you can withdraw at ATMs, anyone is using them for payouts? it seems easy to buy them

most places offer only wire payouts, instead of ACH and those wont take wires.

They can be used for "direct deposit" and that can come from any employer/sponsor.

BUT!

The max you can put on the card at one time is usually $1500 or so.
So for whales this may not work; unless direct deposit has different rules.

does a sponsor send you money this way? or you use it for other purposes

green dot has no way of getting the money out other than using your card. I use it for some US payments when all else fails and they need to use cash.

and how you activate it? need socialsecurity or something, id, etc?

I've had to get a couple for friends/family... we tried to load them and was told we could only pay cash in person. Each time a number had to be scanned from the card, which is what you give to the person to get the funds. The person then goes in and puts the number in online/calls and the pre-paid visa they have gets funded.

It has been a couple years almost, but I'm pretty sure that's how it worked - it may have changed today though. It was easier/cheaper than WU, but it wouldn't be very convenient (at least then) to do a lot of them.

Green Dot cards are limited to $4000.00 USD loading total and $500 per week, which means that you will always have a balance on any given card unless you stop loading and run it dry or request that a check is sent to you for remaining balance which exceeds the withdrawal limit. When you request the check, the card is also closed out. They do not tell you this until you exceed on or the other of the limits though, so it comes as quite a surprise and fucks up your money. I have experience with Green Dot and it sucks balls.
