Topbucks thanks for the payment by epassporte

Not cool.

woj 09-11-2010 07:57 AM

come on, give them a break, you failed to update payout options? not their fault :2 cents:

hopefully at least you updated epass settings so the funds go to the wallet now, so there is good chance you will get your $$...

gooddomains 09-11-2010 08:20 AM

some still believe in epass

Jarmusch 09-11-2010 08:24 AM

Why wasn't it cool? Did you select another payment method but they mistakenly paid you by epass?

CyberHustler 09-11-2010 08:28 AM

Damn dude, where have you been? Why wouldn't you update how you get paid? You wanted somebody else to do that for you?

We have been proactive. We sent out a statement almost immediately requesting that all affiliates doublecheck their payment type selection. We received many, many changes... we also received many, many statements saying "I'm going to stick with epass."

I can appreciate the frustration but there is only so much we as a sponsor can do. Freezing all payments was not an option at the time.

Pat feel free to contact us, I believe Nadya is your rep. We may be able to work this out for you.

my apologies , i assumed he meant he was not notified. I have noticed many sponsors freezing payments if another payment option had not been chosen.

thats a tad drastic , if any sponsors send my payments by epass it will be the last sale they get.

I would think the majority of epass users will not want their payment sent thru epass right now , so the obvious short term solution would be to suspend epass payments and let the "minority" of epass users who still want to use it sent payments. But i am not topbucks and they may have a different situation as well as other options ( i.e. reverse payments )

This payment was for the second half of August, which we usually issue on our end around the third of the month. This was right on the cusp of the first announcement. At the time, many people were still comfortable with epass. We were able to delay payments for a week or so while we waited for the affiliates to change their payment options.

It's been a very unfortunate situation for all and nobody is really winning out of this fiasco. I'm confident in saying that everyone will be VERY happy when it's "over."

I have been updating many many many sponsors. Topbucks must have slipped through. I just checked and I have not received an email from Topbucks. Then again I have never received an email from Topbucks so something is probably going wrong there. I do think the pro-active thing to do would have been to freeze the epass payments untill confirmation as many programs have done. Some webmasters are on holiday and may not even know about the situation at this very moment.

I will be in touch with Nadya.

TwinCities 09-11-2010 09:05 AM

Can someone educate me on the problems with using a real bank in another country? Is the banking system in your country not trustworthy? Are the fee's too high? Isn't banking fees just a cost of doing business just like hosting or traffic buying? I image there is not really a way to write checks off a foreign bank account so is the only way to access funds in a real bank to go there and make a withdrawal? What did you did before ePassporte came along? What made you trust ePassporte above a real bank account? I have never used ePassporte but have used Paypal. I use paypal as a passthrough to my real bank account.

signupdamnit 09-11-2010 09:11 AM

I know that many webmasters don't keep in touch. There was a time when I would go weeks without even going online. Sometimes you go on vacation or pretty much just set things up so they run themselves. I agree that freezing Epass payments by default would have been the best thing to do. But I can't blame Topbucks much for this either. I think it was just a bad choice made with the info they had at the time. They can't predict the future and they probably expected this to be resolved by now.

epass = speed
paid today , access funds today

real bank = get paid today access funds next week maybe

epass = easy
send money to friend for services today , access money today

real bank = very hard to do this and time consuming

there was/is no other options like it for many people.

paypal isn't an option for adult.

The issue in shitty countries is unreliable banks, high fees and high taxes and people who don't understand why they should pay taxes at all (like ex soviet countries/east Europe where tax is a new thing). Almost everyone in east Europe use Epass for tax evasion. this is one of many reason why only a shit bank in the middle of nowhere will do these kinds of things. It because they must comply with both US and all countries laws like Paypal does or they don't work with peopel from that country. Before Epass people use western union, or wait to get check from american bank to take 30-60 days to get money from check in east European bank or before 9/11 use friends to open account in US and use atm in their country.

There is no reason someone from east Europe can't use wire transfer to get paid. They don't do it because they don't want to report it income or pay fee.

People looking for payoneer and other choices but who offer these services is in the end the same. Some nothing bank in the middle of nowhere breaking all rules and put you money at risk.

brassmonkey 09-11-2010 09:41 AM

i still have faith epass will fix the issue.

I didn't change my options and I didn't receive any epass either (on my secondary accounts), which tells me I must be doing business with wise guys. Everyone suspended payments through epass. If you didn't and they sent you a payment it's just the fact that they are unloading their wallets on to you. They just put some of their risk on to you, knowing what situation the system is in and they are telling you that you got paid and is there something wrong? lol.

The fact that we are trying to unload anything from our wallet is false. We requested a wire earlier this week for our wallet money, no need to "unload" it.

TopBucks held all payments until the 10th of September. We notified our WMs via email as well this was posted within the TopBucks accounts on the main page:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As many of you know, Visa International has suspended ePassporte's banking partner's (St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank) Visa program. Due to this situation, you will be unable to withdraw your ePassporte funds with your Visa Card. Until this situation is resolved, we are offering our webmasters the following options for the pay period of August 16-31, 2010.

1. You can choose to wait until the situation between ePassporte and Visa is resolved. Your money will remain in your account and we will execute a transfer of funds when the issue between ePassporte and Visa is successfully resolved.

2. We can offer you an alternative payment method. The options we can offer are:
- Direct Deposit (for U.S. Bank Accounts only)
- Wire
- Check

If you choose to select an alternate payment method, please login to your TopBucks account immediately and edit your payment details.

For this payout (Aug 16-31), we will use the same minimums regardless of the method of payment you choose. After this payout, the minimum payout will revert back to the standard minimum per transaction type. After changing your payment details, please email [email protected] to confirm your change. Please note we are delaying ePassporte webmasters payouts until September 10, 2010 to all these webmasters time to make these changes.

If you have any further questions, please contact your TopBucks Representative.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sorry you had money sent to your ePass account, however there were many other WMs that still wanted to receive their funds this way. We try to make as many options available to our WMs and with that, we will continue to offer ePass. We are also working on integrating Payoneer.

u-Bob 09-12-2010 07:42 AM

I can understand how the different ways different programs are handling the situation may have caused you to expect Topbucks wouldn't use epass to pay you. But personally I don't see anything wrong with programs continuing to use epass.

I received my epass on the 9th and not on the 10th. Small detail but it says a lot to me.

wyldblyss 09-12-2010 01:21 PM

I still not have checked my payout method for about 50 sponsors. They are ones I don't get regular payments from though. It's a royal pain in the butt. It is tough for sponsors to know what we want unless we tell them though

Tasty1 09-12-2010 01:35 PM

As long that a lot of people can't get their money from epassporte, don't send them money on epassporte. If problems are solved and people transeferred succesfully from epassporte, than you can send money. Most people can't get the money now, so what is the use to transfer money to epassporte?

"1. You can choose to wait until the situation between ePassporte and Visa is resolved. Your money will remain in your account and we will execute a transfer of funds when the issue between ePassporte and Visa is successfully resolved."

The situation wasn't resolved, so why send money?

Because you CAN still receive money via ePass and you CAN still have that withdrawn to your bank account, that was never an issue. And ACH debits happen quickly whereas a wire can take a bit longer.

I'm not sure how many times we have to say it - Webmasters wanted to be paid via ePass still. Some took it this pay period, some changed their minimum payouts to a higher amount, yes higher amount.

I guess we are gonna get flamed either way. Unfortunatel Pornopat, you didn't change your payout in time and you received ePass money that you did not want to. I'm sorry this happened, however many webmasters did change their info and some did want ePassporte and we can't hold up everyone's payment for a couple of WMs.

I will check into why payments went out a day earlier than we had originally stated.

Which account, i think people thought the Topbucks account cause the Visa problem is still there.

I think tomorrow we will see how many people got money on their bank. I think you should have waited for the first confirmations.

1. Real banks outside US/Europe have usually high fees.

2. Wire transfers cost 35-50 each.

3. The wire hits the account, but it's not credited TILL you go to the bank, explain where the funds come from, and sign papers FOR EVERY TRANSFER. (That's why I have a second account in Europe.)

4. Checks sent by regular mail also get lost/stolen. Years back I got a check stolen and someone went to the same bank I always went, with a fake ID trying to cash the check. The guy at the bank called me right away and the thief ran away from the bank.

5. If you want a FedEx check, some sponsors have a minimum of $2000.

So, epassporte was instant payments, and some sponsors had a minimum of 50-100.

Now, even epassporte wallet IS WORKING, lots of sponsors decided not to put any money at risk. And that's understandable.

We need a solution right away for international webmasters. :2 cents:

So you're mad that they PAID you?

It's not TopBucks job to babysit you and make sure your options are up to date. They even waited almost a full week extra.

Which means other people had to wait to get paid, while they waited/tried to contact slackers who didn't change their info.

Just to have them show up here crying about it.

If you got paid by epassporte, you can withdraw with:

1. Visa Debit Card from your local bank.
2. ACH.
3. Wire.

It takes 4-5 business days.

You're right, the only debit card that worked flawless for me for withdrawing cash, was from a bank in Spain.

Not all banks are accepting credits on their debit cards/accounts.
