Competition spamming your links? Ever happend to you?
 

So I have a site ranking in a high traffic keyword on first page, i checked the links in in yahoo today and see my site spammed to death oh irrelevant sites... until now I thought it was a myth about competition spamming your links but now I know it's real...ever happened to you?

Are they spamming them or are they showing up on those spider/rss feeds type sites that are using listings as content on them. Basically they scrape results for 'ass' for 'ass' content and build series of pages on them.

I've got tons of links from that shit.

No, but one of my sites recently had it's robots.txt hacked (probably through wordpress) and set to block all robots. That wasn't fun.

Not so long ago a group of losers on GFY did this to one of my sites.
They started to spam the shit out of it, ganged up, and massively reported it to google.

1.5 weeks later, i lost all my ranks on google i ever had, and google banned my ass completely wiping it off the earth.

When i said something about it on GFY, everybody trashed me on it. Couldnt happen right.

If done right, it can be THAT easy to trash your competition, ruin companies, even ruin lives. Thats how nice the adult scene is.

And people wonder why im leaving this healthy "bro" adult business...

Yes i have 3 million backlinks on one site thanks to that shit.I think once you have a good white hat ranking then they cant damage you with link spamming.

man, you sure about this? i think you have to be sure as you are selling hardlinks ... but, if you have new site with few backlinks, thousands of backlinks associated with keywords like cp or similar sick crap may hurt your site in google for a long time ... :2 cents:

Yup, you cannot do anything about it. And a site with stable backlinks and stable ranking is unlikely to get hurt, but a newer site with less backlinks and unstable ranking can pretty much get affected by that spam links.

To new site or site with few links, it can be banned (not domain usually, but page which gets links). Most sites don't get affected with this. Usually, they drop when someone does this and come up higher than before after some time. But if people say "it can't hurt" thats not true always. Your domain can also get banned and you must submit for re-inclusion. To people who say someone can't fuck your rankings or domain by do this, please list your domains and I can show you what happens when you site with 100 backlinks get 100,000 bad quality links in a couple hours.

Just spamming backlinks to your site will NOT hurt you. However, if people start sending complaints about the spam, Google could suspend the site.

He did not mention anything about people reporting his site for spam, only that he now has tons of extra backlinks. That won't hurt him.

Fucking assholes, they spam your links everyfuckingwhere then report your ass to all spam
monitors like Spamhaus etc. They contact your registrar, hosting, the lot.

When I was working for another company we had something worse hit us... someone was card banging their asses off, literally hundreds a day for several days straight. Epoch caught them but the strange thing was... no ref code. Just someone using stolen cards to join the sites and we guessed trying to get the CB % very high so that the program and sites would lose the ability to accept VISA credit cards...what an absolute waste of their time but it could have easily gone the other way if it wasn't caught in time

You don't know anything. It can be done very easy to your shitty, low authority domains. Here is idea. You show me a list of domains, i'll look at them and choose which one of your domains I want to get banned. Of course, its all not real so you will be just fine.

The main reason i sold 99% of my sites and am selling the few remaining ones.
One thing i learned: dont ever put your links in your signature at a place filled with trolls, haters, and brokeass jealous losers.
