Dog question again
I have scars all over my hands and feet.
This little 9 week old shitzu is biting the hell out of my feet. I have to wear 8 pair of socks just to be able to walk around the house. I have bought him 30 dollars worth of little toys, yet he keeps on attacking my feet. What do I do? HELP!!!! |
SPray him with water when he does it...
just when he bites.... course...he could just become afraid of you...and not the whole biting crap... |
Are you putting him in a kennel? The minute he starts the biting, put him in it. Or, pop him on the but with a rolled up newspaper. When all else fails, I just stape my cat to the wall with my staple gun.
I am kidding, of course. Hope cat jokes aren't too out of line these days. |
Puppys like to bite and they love to bite YOU when they teethe. Others have told me they just get stern and whap with the newspaper when the pup bites too hard. It won't last forever but if you let it go it could be bad if you have children around (he'll play too rough.)
:2 cents: |
Just dont wash your feet :Graucho
Or get some of that no bite spray. |
My dog used to do that, I got rid of him before I was able to make him stop :(
|
The puppy needs to learn the word "no" before you ever get anywhere with him. It doesn't have to be loud but should be good and strong. If he goes after your feet when you're walking, stop right there and say "NO"..talk to him in a disapproving tone. A squirt from a water pistol at the same time doesn't hurt. Keep a toy with him and toss it to draw his attention away to something else.
Another gimmick....After a nip, look your puppy right in the eye, and yell "OUCH" as though you've been mortally wounded then ignore him...leave the room if you have to. Some people recommend spraying bitter apple on the body part he's biting. |
There's a spray that tastes like shit to the dog, you can get that and spray it on your socks, furniture etc.
Also he might need some chew toys, (not sure what kind of toys you got) some rawhide bones etc. Good luck.. |

Our dog has gone through 3 levels of obedience.
Put yours in obedience. It is the best thing you can do for you, and your dog. Don't bother spraying shit all over the place, that is not the way to fix the problem. Your dog doesn't respect you, he is alpha. You gotta knock him down a notch on the ladder. Our puppy never bit, never teethed on things other then her toys, doesn't bark, and is litter trained. Why spray a dog? Are you going to carry around bitter apple or a squirt gun everywhere you go? Why not 'train' it, and you instead? Treat training, spraying, bitter apple is rubbish. Don't gotta do it. PK is partially right, that dog has to know what 'no' means. Most importantly, that dog cannot be alpha. No means nothing to a dog who is king shit of turd island. Everytime you say no to an alpha dog and they don't listen, you are being told by the dog to fuck off. Don't ever raise your hand to a dog, or hit it. Wouldn't you rather your dog respect you, then be afraid of you? People who hit animals should get it back twice as hard. That is pure ignorance on the owners part, they shouldn't have a pet. Nothing like going up to a dog that has been abused by the owner, putting your hand up to pet the animal, and it cowers away. That is a bad owner, not a bad dog. e-mail me if you have any questions. I love animals, but when an owner is frustrated it is not good. That dog can be trained very easily....without treats, without clickers.... [email protected] p.s., our dog has bever been abused, not once have we raised a hand to her of kicked her. She respects us, and this dog has a blast each and every day she is awake. She loves life. |
I had the same problem except it was with the MONSTER below. Quick solution to this is a empty coke can with about 20-30 penies in. When he bits you shake that can next to his head and it will startle him. Try that it worked well for me:)

here's what you do.
take the dog's head in your hand, make sure he is looking you directly in your eyes, in a firm voice tell him 'If you bite me again I am going to take you to the vet and have you put down'. This usually works, dogs are much more intelligent than people think. |
