London, United Kingdom (AHN) - Passengers aboard a British Airways flight from London to Hong Kong experienced some terrifying moments of fearing death was at hand when a pilot hit the wrong button, causing an emergency message to play warning passengers the plane was about to crash.

The pre-recorded message played over the Boeing 747's loudspeakers told passengers there was an emergency and warned that the plane was going to make an emergency landing on water.

Shortly after the announcement played, cabin crew members rushed down the aisles reassuring terrified passengers that the plane was not going to crash and that the announcement was a mistake.

Learning that no danger of crashing into North Sea existed reportedly left passengers relieved but puzzled over what happened to cause the announcement to play.

British Airways officials issued an apology to the shaken passengers. The airline explained the emergency warning away as a computer glitch

I'd be much more afraid of this explanation (a computer glitch on a plane) than of the stupid pilot pressing a wrong button.
