In a news story aimed at wasting tax payers money..... The Las Vegas Democrat submitted a bill draft request for the 2011 legislative session that makes the "Ne-VAH-da" pronunciation of the state's name acceptable, although "Ne-VAD-a" would remain the preferred pronunciation.
