brownie hands down!!

Does brownie allow you to manipulate or resize gif's (example size 88 x 88 ). Some webmasters do not have that capability or time and it would be a big bonus.

TGPDevil does a pretty decent job if I do say so myself.

I checked out nibbi tgp script. However, there is no demo for their thumbs script you can install and test.

Do the Devil and Nibbi thumb scripts handle many mysql queries well or do they use some other system?

I would like to start using thumbs, it gives a better presentation, and users can see exactly what they are looking for. Improves stickiness to your site. ........No pun intended.

TGPDevil doesn't generate pages on the fly. All of the pages are generated as static HTML. I wouldn't ever use a script that generated the page every time the script is called. That is a totally unnecessary waste of server resources.

I would have to say of ALL th eones I have used...... and trust me, I have used about every single one there is out there........ hands down is going to be the www.tgpxs.com script......

The next in line I would have to give up to www.tgpdevil.com

Both of these are excellent scripts, but I like the options I get with TGPXS.......... I have TOTAL control over damn near every aspect from the time they hit my submit page on....... go to:

My vote goes with Tam and Zach...TgpXS is the best & it gives you TOTAL control.

Try jmbsoft.com, they just released a beta version of Auto Gallery SQL with thumbnail preview, pretty bad ass script. Ive been using it for amonth now and not a single bug. Uses GD for special codes, and ImageMajik to crop, resize, watermark.. whatever you want. I like it.

XxXotic - yeah, I was talking to the owner/creator of the script the other night on ICQ and those upcoming features are OFF DA HOOK! I'm already using it on a site that I'm setting up now and loving it - but, with those new upcoming features...hot dayum!

When TurboThumbs was tested with what equeals to 30K in per hour and pages build on the fly I could hardly see any differences. Sometimes mySQL peaked at 2% CPU usage but then dropped below 1% again. But offcourse for thouse that prefer not to update in real time they can just set it to update whenever they wish :)

I will have a free version of TurboThumbs soon as soon as soon as Category support is finished. Will have same features as the paid version but will take a % of your traffic instead

My fave would be TGPXS but I am kinda biased :winkwink:

Anyone using tgpxs, will it crop thumbs or just resize them? Hows the compression on the thumbs as well

If it can... 1) grab a thumb 2) crop it and 3) make sure its not HUGE...

Drew- you can set the thumbnail size you want in the script and it will automatically do it for you. I can't tell you what a pleasure this feature is, among it's other vast features! I wouldn't speak highly of any product unless I used it myself & got GREAT results.

ive never used tgp devils ultra thumbs script but the tgp script works well and they are cool people to deal with

The source is (unfortunately) encoded - though everybody who knows about coding will understand why 'V' is doing this...

So far he'd been great to listen and implement everything I asked for or suggested as an improvement :thumbsup (looks like he's away for the weekend - didn't find him on ICQ either)...

I understand exactly why it's coded. Doesn't take long to figure that one out. lol

The scripts are encoded with Zend. They cannot be modified. But anything you want added I will add. I do this for a few reasons.

1) I'd like to keep my code for as long as I can. :thumbsup

2) Anything added will be added by me. That way I know what was done and if something goes wrong I am on top of it.


1) Yes. Can be uploaded by submitter or the script can grab one off the gallery. Also has the option to be turned off.

2)Yes. You set the size you want.

3) Yes.
