Politics & family: How's that workin' out for you
 

So.... 4:20 has come and gone yet again on another glorious Friday afternoon..... so how about something a little more relaxed to fling us into the weekend.


Both within my blood family as well as my extended families through marriage(s) have basically been devoid of any talk of politics or religion for as long as I can remember. I wondered if most families operated the same way. Then, I recently decided maybe it was time to change that.... with not so great results.

Wow..... the nuts really came out of the woodwork. There were arms flying about, hand waving, some face-reddening, one dude became speechless, 2 people left, there was audible praying, and 5 non-drinkers got smashed.

We decided to go back to not discussing religion or politics between family. :1orglaugh

So, what's your story.... gimme the good, bad & the hilarious. :rasta

Funny. It reminds me of an old timer I once knew...whom is now dead. He had nine children all of which were grown and married. He found out that he had cancer and was terminal. His children told him that they were going to have a family reunion for him and asked him if he had anything last special thing that he wanted to do. He had been a moonshiner in his younger years and told his kids that he would like to run off a batch one last time for the reunion. The kids pooled their money and bought him all of the necessary items to do this. Come reunion time the batch was ready and everyone partook in helping him to drink it. Keep in mind this was a really close family...sisters...brothers...cousins...etc. showed up for the reunion...something like forty people or so.

When I asked him how the reunion went...this is what he told me. At some point in time they got to discussing politics. Sisters began fighting sister...brothers began fighting brothers...brother-in-laws began fighting...sister-in-laws began fighting...wives were fighting husbands and husbands were beating wives...cousins fighting cousins, On the way home from the reunion there were three car wrecks...and a couple of them ended up in jail.

Apparently moonshine and politics don't mix well.
