Content Owners Step Inside- Content Protection Retreat

Pink Visual Announces Adult Industry Content Protection Retreat

Full Article: http://www.xbiz.com/news/124351

Pink Visual will be hosting an adult industry-focused Content Protection Retreat in October, where attendees will learn about effective means of combating content piracy and protecting their intellectual property.

Scheduled for Oct. 17-19 in Tucson, the retreat will offer attendees consultation with attorneys and developers who are experts in intellectual property law and software-based solutions for protecting digital content.

Unlike other panels and events, the Content Protection retreat is more than just talk, it is about action. This will be a very collaborative effort to strengthen existing and reasonable strategies that can make an impact on internet piracy occurring in the adult industry.

We have already received several participation requests and we're looking forward to having a well rounded group of attendees committed to this cause.

For more information, visit www.ContentProtectionRetreat.com. To submit your company for consideration, contact Pink Visual Marketing Director Lea Busick at [email protected] or by phone at 520.290.0910, Ext. 237.

Bumps for questions or support are welcome!

For those interested in the concept, but unable to attend, you can also submit your name. We may at a later time do a gotomeeting type event.

DWB 08-23-2010 12:58 PM

Your 2000 adult video policy, is 2000 DVDs or 2000 scenes?

How about if you are a producer for one of these companies? I personally do not own a library of that much content, but shoot for several companies who do.

I can email you my contact info then and you will let me know if you can stream it? Thanks.

"These can be individual episodes/scenes, so this requirement does not mean that you must have 2000 DVD titles in your portfolio."

So 2000 scenes works too. :)

2,000 Scenes is also applicable. Regarding if you're a producer, it would depend on the production relationship. If the producer is the content owner, than they would qualify.

Hmmm...will there be any actual experts there who have already been doing this for two years and having great success while other so-called "industry leaders" told them that it would fail? Or is this gonna be more legal oriented?

Allison, it is great to see someone trying to take a leadership role in this important issue. Some issues occur to me that some others have already broached:

1- Please consider making the info, transcripts or video of the meetings availble online for those that are not able to attend.

2- Please consider having future events occur concurrently or subsequently with other industry conventions so that people do not have to make a special trip just for this.

3- You would be wise to include some really knowledgable people like Robbie, who, although he is not one of the big program owners in the biz, is very knowledgable about this subject and already has solutions and experience with content protection.

4- Hopefully you can also be more inclusive with future events and invite some of the smaller programs and companies that are legitamite players in the biz but who may have only in the dozens or hundreds of scenes worth of content.

There will be technical experts with successes, legal experts with successes, and a basic outline we'll be using to collaborate from the content owner's perspective, some of which have been successful.

Much appreciated. Again, I encourage companies that can't attend to submit their names so we could possibly include them in a future gotomeeting.

Smaller companies interested in attending can also submit their information for consideration. We do want a well rounded group and having a handful of smaller companies in attendance will help us create the best solution.

If it's not a rude question, why is the retreat in Tucson? Surely most content owners with 2,000+ scenes are in LA? Why make them schlep to a shithole like Tucson?

Actually, there are quite a few 5 star properties in Tucson that feature stellar accommodations. It's also quite lovely in October insofar as the weather goes.

It's not LA or Vegas, but the trip will certainly be worth it in terms of education, solutions and getting something accomplished :thumbsup

In addition to Lee's comments, we wanted the event to be extremely private. Having it in Tucson (a little over a 1 hour flight), provides that privacy from "drop ins", media and also ensures that during the 2 days the attendees are focused and not sidetracked by business going on down the street at their offices.

I'm really happy to see Pink Visual take the lead on this vital issue. I do hope that many other large companies will become involved as well. :thumbsup

I see that Gamma, Hustler and Titan are already going to be involved. This is exciting. I was particularly heartened to see that you state your goal quite clearly:

Quote:

The goal of the CPR is to significantly reduce digital piracy of adult content and to effectively drive those who engage in adult content piracy completely underground by January 2012.

Thanks, we appreciate your support. Legal cases can take a long time, but ours is proceeding relatively on schedule. Trial is scheduled for March 2011.

We've been receiving great feedback and have had really good response to the event thus far. Many people in the industry are really concerned and committed to ending content theft once and for all. I encourage each of you to really consider attending this event and participating in the implementation of a collective strategy to end piracy.

This will be a great event for the Free Speech Coalition to push their crummy tube-only, high cost program onto unsuspecting content owners that don't know what a cyberlocker is.

Get out your pocketbooks DVD guys...you're about to be taken on a ride!

These are the exact types of misunderstandings in the industry that need to be cleared up in this industry and will be at this event.

Personally, the Tucson location appeals to me because it's not the typical places we have all been to for other gatherings. However, I'll be researching other activities as I don't play golf or tennis.

I'm happy to see a larger company step up and pull this together. This event should be far more worthwhile than many of the other "shows" if only because it brings like minded people together and keeps away those who are only there to party. Establishing these kind of connections is obviously important to the future of our industry. Whether or not the retreat brings about any direct changes, I'm happy to see the ball rolling this direction. :2 cents:

This will INDEED be a working event that we anticipate will contribute to creating a unified strategy to combat content theft. There will be (already is on board) a variety of companies who are committed to working together to bring about a solution that effectively impacts internet piracy.

the list of participants is growing:

There is a ton of shit to do in Tucson - we are a very large college town as well. I've been telling Lightspeed to come down to Tucson to shoot girls for years. We always battle ASU for hottest campus in America. And it will be prime time, wonderful weather and the freshman haven't gained their 15 lbs. yet! :)

The mountains are always gorgeous and honestly the weather is awesome in October.

If you want me to take a look at anything going on if you have something in mind you like to do - hit me up and I can find info for ya.

I was looking forward to playing you in a game of tennis :) We can help coordinate other activities. Free time is a little limited in the day so not too much far from the premises will be feasible.

Half man, Half Amazing 08-26-2010 05:15 PM

Why's Private attending? I though Berth Milton wants his shit pirated all over the place so he can sell bottles of wine and private vacations. I vote that a topic of discussion be "Berth Milton : WTF?"

Mutt 08-27-2010 07:57 AM

the 2,000 scene/DVD restriction is ridiculous - there are many LA DVD companies already dead or dying with thousands of scenes which have little worth meanwhile I can name you many Internet companies/sites with less than 500 scenes, some considerably less, who are alive and well and making bank.

but the concept of the retreat is great - i hope the lawyers there will consider the option of class action lawsuits against the tubes and the free file hosting companies, and Google the worst offender of them all.

Mutt-
Smaller companies that are interested in attending can submit their information or hit us up for consideration. Our objective is to get a good cross section of the industry so having some smaller companies might aid us in finding solutions that work well for everyone.

LOL, probably 75% of amateur club players are 3.5 players. It's not that special.

I took up tennis about 15 years ago with my wife, since it is a sport we can play together.

A nice thing about tennis is that anyone can pick up a racquet and start whacking away at the ball, but to become good at it generally requires lessons and lots of practice.

The cool thing is that you compete against people at roughly your same skill level, and there are even specialized age-groups for leagues as well.

Enough about that - let's catch us some pirates!!! :thumbsup
