They were at the Vineyard but I believe he had to leave early. I'm sure he could use a little break, all of that campaigning takes out a lot of energy.

Presidents do seem to take a lot of vacations. Then again, if you look at the picture of Presidents before they went into office and then afterward, they age really fast in that 4 year period of time. They probably need those half-vacations.

A small bike store in NJ specializing in mountain bikes and cycle bikes went out of business because of a mega Walmart. The Walmart just destroyed that small business and various small stores in the area.

Corporations now can run their own candidates for a political office in the open or privately without disclosing who they are donating money to.

This goes for banks, big box stores, phone companies, etc... you aren't doing your part if you're lamenting the decomposition of America and still using iPhones. I'm doing my part. I haven't set foot inside a Wal-mart in 6 years. I rejected the phones companies, I look for ways to replace big corporate greed with sustainable shit throughout every aspect of my life.

Bush had extended stays at his ranch which means more staffers had to tag along. Shorter trips require less staff so Obama's vacation is likely cheaper.

The Bush family was also more expensive because his daughters did not live at the White House which means many more buildings had to be secured and continuously patrolled. The current First Family lives under one roof.

My day job gives me 2 WEEKS of vacation. No one in America gets 30 days of vacation unless you own the company or self employed. That's in Europe.

Most Americans only get TWO WEEKS FOR THE YEAR.

A lot of people are afraid to take vacations because of the economy and also a lot of people feel that even though they are entitled ti 14 days, its frowned on by their bosses. Also, some people feel they have too much work to justify taking 14 days even though they have earned it.

1) Mr. Obama and Congress back in office "working". Remember, every other day the strong argument is that Mr. Obama and Congress are fucking up the country. Ask yourself if you really want them in DC working 365 days a year.

2) On the campaign trail. While many Obama haters have been railing about vacations and mosques, Mr. Obama has been traveling the country on a campaign blitz raising money for several hopeful Democrat governors, Senators, and Representatives. Ask yourself if you want Mr. Obama out and about raising millions of dollars and cashing in votes for Democratic politicians.

OR

3) At Martha's Vineyard enjoying a little family time. Away from the office. Away from the campaign trail. For the most part, minding his own business and playing with his kids.

They are not allowed to fly Southwest. If the day comes that they can and they choose to take AF2 ... then I will have a problem.

In reality I do not have problems with any President taking a vacation. It is the most stressful job in the world and there really is never a day off. A vacation is still a working vacation. There is simply no way to avoid it. Many Presidents in one way or another have said that living in the White House is like a prison. Sure there is Camp David, but having lived a county over, I can say that the area isn't exactly thrilling and unless you're a woodsman, you're going to get bored quickly.

Government employees. Military. It's standard and has been for decades or longer.
