Should News Companies Give Political Donations?
Not trying to be naive here, but how does a news company maintain impartiality in reporting stories when giving millions of dollars to specific political parties? Isn't there some kind of conflict here?
Unlike the national political parties and federal candidates, the governors? associations can take in unlimited amounts from corporations, and companies are showing their interest. News Corp., the media company controlled by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch, gave the RGA $1 million in June. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-0...ts-record.html |
All of the evidence points to them not even bothering to try to maintain impartiality.
It's about ratings. |
It troubles me when they give donations. It also troubles me when I see political ads on news stations. I feel like they should stay impartial and by taking a candidate's money they might be stepping over that line a little.
