So we have one of the biggest catastrophies ever going on in Pakistan and no one cares...
half of the country is under water, millions of people lost their homes, have no water, no food and diseases are spreading fast.
and no one seems to be willing to help, no fundraisers, it hardly makes the news - didn't find anything on the homepage of foxnews and one little link on cnn so why is that - cause we secretly hope they all drown down there? because we think it's gods punishment for being muslim? |

Most people can't find pakistan on a map, hell hard enough time finding haiti! And plane flights to paki land are way more expensive! Goody goody church folk dont want to spend the dough to get there

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and is slowly moving towards radicalism. Taliban help organisations are gaining sympathy cause they are the only ones showing up |
Agreed .. its a horrible situation.
Unfortunately the Taliban and other extreemists will benefit from this disaster. |

While they are a very dangerous country, it would be more important for our security and world opinion to help them WITHOUT INVADING versus Hatti. No shit I would love to see Israel send aid. Would be a brilliant move on their part if they did that. |
i sent them detailed plans on how to build a boat.....
just doing my part.. . |

This is in a Taliban controlled area. The Taliban can take care of them.
|
seeing the pics on TV - the flooded area has the size of Italy now

It's caused by the rain. Nobody to blame + nothing to profit from = not news worthy.

I think politics and scandal have been filling up the headlines lately. The midterms are getting a lot of coverage. You read the politico websites and they don't even talk about Pakistan... talk of Afghanistan, but not Pakistan. I don't know. Maybe it's because nobody can relate? Or maybe people are just getting tired of a new global scale disaster relief fund every six months? Nasty situation over there. |
they can't swim?
|
As catastrophes like this continue to mount and grow in size it will be impossible (and already is impossible) to donate, help, repair. The number and impact is simply outpacing the resources.
In very little time you will see parts of the world destroyed and left unihabitable. Why? Because climate change accelerated by human beings is a myth. |

and at the moment, we will take whatever help we can get |
im sure many people care...but since it is so closely tied to terrorism, and is roving with terrorists....it probably just isnt safe to even send a news crew there.
if they cleaned up their backyard....its easy to put out a brush fire but they have so much shit in there, its dangerous to even try to help |
I'm sure the geniuses in DC have already begun working on a way to leverage Pakistan with the promise of help. If they find the leverage they want, Paki will get their help. If not.... there's always the backstroke.

climate change is not... the earth has cycles of unusually hot and cold weather.... . |
Seeing how some of the biggest charities are christian based. I don't see them rushing in because of the Taliban and the recent killings of those Drs. in Afghanistan.
|
i care, sir.
|
such a tragedy going on over there. Simply amazing how insignificant humans can be in the face of mother nature.

Just digging up on some financial reports of such organisations here in our country:
Tsunami in Thailand, the Dutch gave 208 Million Euro (198 was spend in 3(!) years with a kickback of 700K+ intrest, the rest was management fee and administration costs I read. That's around 10 million missing...) Haiiti, the Dutch gave 111 Million Euro (so far 20 million was sent there...first they draw 3 to 5 years of intrest(?) before they release the rest in chunks). Pakistan, the Dutch gave 1 Million+ so far. Allthough the disaster is huge and the local situation there is horrible, it seems the media can influence what people give in aid. And the media are not really "pushing" it this time on TV like they did with the Tsunami in Thailand. |

I won't be donating SHIT to them anyway. Fair enough i do feel sorry for the young kids etc, but this is a country hell bent on causing shit elsewhere. And now this happens to them. Who mentioned Karma in this thread already? |

I wonder how these climate change people explain the "ice age"?? |
It's on Sky News a lot. But it's a shame that more is not being done.
So far the US donated the most aid. You can bet the Taliban will ignore that when the crisis is over. |

but the news coverage in germany is also getting bigger and so are the donations. but a lot of people have exactly those fears that the money will end up in the hands of the taliban |
Quote:
send them all the money in your bank account :2 cents: |

The disaster has to end first... only so much that can be done until then.

Has Obama been there yet? |
Pretty bad indeed. |

There are floods in Pakistan. This is very unfortunate. A person should train some survival skills about how to survive without a home and/or in the wild. A person can train to swim, also.
