Breaking: Court halts Calif gay marriages pending appeal
Court halts Calif gay marriages pending appeal - Aug 2010
SAN FRANCISCO ? Same-sex weddings in California are on hold indefinitely after a federal appeals court blocked the unions Monday while it considers the constitutionality of the state's gay marriage ban. The decision, issued by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, trumps a lower court judge's order that would have allowed county clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Wednesday. Chief U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker decided last week to allow gay marriages to go forward after ruling that the ban, known as Proposition 8, violated equal protection and due process rights of gays and lesbians guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. The Proposition 8 legal team quickly appealed Walker's ruling in a case that many believe will end up before the Supreme Court. LINK :2 cents: lol.... what a clusterfuck. :1orglaugh |
Yep, damn gays getting married!
Who cares that the Federal government is robbing us blind... heh. Gay people getting married is going to screw EVERYTHING UP!! Priority fail. |
yeah.... I'm sure glad we're still pissing money away on this.
|
oh snap!
|
Wow, who didn't see this one coming? I'm surprised Amputate and the other liberals on this forum aren't calling the Supreme Court bigots. Score 1 for the good guys(not gays).
|

Why is this such a big deal?

I'll tell ya D,.... it's because I'm not a liberal, I'm not gay, I'm not a jeezuz freak, nor a homophobe, and I don't fucking care one way or the other. Neither decision affects me in any way. But I do love pushing your buttons. It's a fun way to kill an afternoon. :) |

No worries my gay friends.... this is only a tiny bump in the road. It's only a matter of time before it's allowed. It is sad that we have to live with religious homophobic stains in our Country, but no worries... they are dying off.
|
Another road block for progressivism :thumbsup
|
Gotta love theDoc's optimism (denial, hilarious rationalization).

Fuck those faggots!...no homo!

I love how this, the mosque thing and the border in Arizona is coming up right before the midterms, it's going to be a free for all circus on the TV with pundits not knowing which side to be on to benefit them the most. Simple because of what Barry said about the Mosque and his taking Arizona to court and saying he's against gay marriage, that doesn't leave the democrats in a good place, given the economy and jobs.
Sounds like the democrats will be running on we passed the unpopular healthcare bill, the stimulus for jobs that didn't work, but if you vote for the GOP, you're going to go back to the way they had it, GOOD strategy, LMAO |
The funny thing is, the conservatives/republicans are all united yet again, especially with this Mosque shit, while the Democrats are divided once again.
|
Fundementally I have no problem with queers shacking up, and they should recieve the same economic rights blah blah.
What I don't like: -Don't call it marriage. Call it civil partnership, not marriage -Shouldn't equate to same rights for adoption. |
Going to edit this paragraph so it reads how it's supposed to read:
"Chief U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker decided last week to allow gay marriages to go forward after ruling that the ban, known as Proposition 8, violated equal protection and due process rights of CITIZENS guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution." |
Just passing by...

It's not a standard family set up, but how many of us have grown up with both parents under the same roof? Better that a kid has a family, period, it may not what some call perfect, but it's better than growing up without one. |

They're for amending the constitution to ban gay marriages and flag burning (remember that one?). They're also now for repealing article 1 of the constitution because it's politically expedient to do so (mosque).
Real "country first" stuff going on here as usual. |

Anyway, I do find it mildly amusing the "conservative Christians" (Or any other religious zealots) that come on this forum, or even participate in the adult industry. |
