I suggest you save some money. For around $2500 get yourself a used Civic. No it won't look cool and yes it will be slow. It will drive more than 50 feet and won't be covered in rust though.

At some point in my life, I use to adjust car damages. Basically, when you've got something that's got four wheels and can run, It's value is $850, especially for older models.

The rest depend on condition, kelly blue book, etc.

I just found a 1996 BMW 318ti (I have a thing for little hatchbacks) and they're asking $1700. It's in great shape (no rust in NY is a plus) and only has 64k miles on it.

I'm gonna go and offer him $1k today and see if they'll take it. I'm betting they won't, but who knows. I can still probably sang it for under $1500.

It should make for a fun little winter car.
