Cutting 12 Billion from Food Stamps
How the government is screwing up the economy
so they are taking away 12 billion from food stamps to pay for 26 billion to fund state aid, some say to give a gift to the unions http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010...s-fund-m-jobs/ http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2010...ch-get-richer/ Maybe if the present administration didn't fuck up everything with Obamacare, this wouldn't have happened Almost every health insurance company is raising the cost of premiums in America to help cover the cost of changes because of Obamacare, like insuring children till the age of 26. That cost is passed on to us and the employers that we work for, unless we're self employed, then it's just us. That extra cost of every employee is I believe keeping the economy from bouncing back. That's why employers can't afford to hire new people and why we have a stagnant unemployment rate. Less people working, means less people paying taxes that pay for the government. Less money paid to the government, means they have to raise taxes to support the government, which means less money for everyone that pays taxes, so more people, including the poor have to pay taxes. Less money made, means even less money in the economy, yet the government continues to grow and expand it's power. Someone please explain to me how this can work? |
Great plan. Fuck the people that need it the most. :thumbsup
|
I can not believe how incompetent this fucking admin is. I am all for cutting government programs but this one would have been the last on the list. Fucking food stamps? Seriously?
I bet those people getting food stamps cut are really happy about that vacation Queen Obama went on. |
Wow thats somthing thats going to look bad.

Complain.
Complain. Complain. Complain. There, I just helped you make your next 4 threads. |
This is good news... When the pain gets great enough, change will happen...
At some point people will wake up and start paying more attention to what their govt is doing to them... I hope more of these social programs are cut.. . |

i wonder if you could cut something from the military budget in order to feed your poor and educate your children at the same time |
It's ok, we're blaming Bush on this right?

Unemployment benefits only leads to lazy people who dont want to work anymore.
.therefore.... Food Stamps only lead to lazy people who dont want to buy food anymore. So obviously this is something that Republicans support, right? I mean.. fuck those lazy bastards living off your dime.. right? |

We can't even keep the fucking food stamp program alive yet somehow we are going to expand "free" health care to 10s of millions. We are FUCKED :Oh crap |

Congressman Obey was complaining that the administration's first suggestion to fund the State Aid bill was to cut the food stamp program. Teachers unions vote more often and have more money to contribute than the poor. What I'm really curious about is whether or not the teachers got help from the Fed with or without concessions. If there was concessions and the Fed still needed to kick in... not ideal, but okay... if there were no concessions, that's not okay at all. |
Honestly if the programs were Policed, the amount of Fraud that can be caught would prob pay for (people policing the programs) and LOTS of other things!
I think it is a bad move to JUST Cut a program like this, the scammers will always win. Lets try to CUT some politicians, Ear Marks, BS Programs, Helping other countries, and the list goes on. |
hahahaha!!!

It is time to circle the wagons! |
The amount that Congress spends to avoid legislating on empty stomachs is more than enough to make taxpayers sick to theirs.
In just nine months spanning late 2009 and early 2010, the House spent $2.6 million on food and beverages for members and staff, according to the Sunlight Foundation's House Expenditure Reports Database. That figure includes $604,000 just for bottled water, showing that Congress is not just hungry but thirsty, too. Leading the rush to the taxpayer-funded trough was Democrat Gregorio Sablan, the Northern Mariana Islands' first-ever House delegate, who topped the list of big spenders on food at $23,457. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., led the catering charges, accounting for $7,536 of the House's $397,000 total tab. And too often it wasn't merely subsistence grub on the menu. The House Committee on Foreign Affairs spent $35,824 -- all in one shot -- with a company that helps run a gourmet D.C. restaurant for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. And confirming that Congress and pork go together, the House spent $10,673 with barbecue restaurants. It's gluttony, Capitol Hill-style. And it rightly sticks in the craws of taxpayers who pay for their own food and drink. |
not long ago on here certain members wanted to get rid of welfare and food stamps. now those people think its bad they are being cut.

Now they are paying off teachers unions by taking food out of the mouths of the poor. |

I think if they have to cut back, this is one area they can do it. Make the guidelines stricter and you'll weed out the shitty ones. They can do this with WIC too. (Women, Infant, Children) I remember one chick got on it and told me to go get on it as well cause they don't check your income. I make pretty decent money, I can afford cereal, milk and cheese for my kids. But yet another person abusing it because they can. There are no checks and balances on these types of programs anymore. One state that has strict Food Stamps, Daycare help, etc - Texas. |

I've seen figures like that before. I saw something about Nancy Pelosi and her flower expenditures. This article went on and on and on about how Nancy spent all of this money on flowers. It ended up being one semi-basic bouquet for $100 a week that came out of her office discretionary budget. So instead of spending $100 a week on paper, yes, she chose to add some flowers to her office to make it look nice. So what? Put things in perspective and complain about real issues. You are complaining about 435 members of Congress and their staffs (what are we talking, five people at least?) spending $2 million in what... four months? So that's $500 a month, spread out between 435 congressmen (plus staff) which comes down to a little over $1000 a month. Break that down and we had $250 a week to cover office drinks, maybe some snacks, some water, food for guests, etc. etc. That's nothing. |

Foodstamps you can only buy food with, cash you can buy anything. So the parent goes into the store buys mac and cheese for the kids dinner then uses "their cash side" of their food stamp card to buy cigs and booze. We need to stop that. Things we could have cut. 1) IRS 2) Military 3) DOE 4) CIA 5) FBI 6) Congressional office budgets Not in any oreder |

When a company needs to expand, due to increased sales or demand, it will do so, regardless if it is Obama in office, or whoever. They are not hiring because they are not in need of hiring - otherwise they ABSOLUTELY would! What a stupid ass spin! |

Our industry is a pretty good example of this. There are plenty of people with money sitting around, but they aren't spending it. Most see the future of our industry being very shaky, even "dying." Instead of trying out new projects and investing that money, they just sit and wait. In the past, people were willing to shell out money for traffic, sites, programming, designs as soon as it came in because they felt comfortable predicting what the future holds. Companies don't hire just because people are "needed." They hire to test out new products, to do new research, to try new experiments. That's the kind of hiring we could use right now. Not until these people feel somewhat safe will they start doing that. |

Thank god not every health insurance company is raising rates due to this bullshit reason. Of course, they all raise rates over time, for no real reason other than to increase profits so people keep investing. Not really hard to figure out why starting a gov healthcare plan of some type, even if it's your foot in door for now, is extremely logical.
And to explain it... it's called cutting the fat out of the program, something that should be done. Lots of people are over paid on food stamps, if you have any income at all you should only get a percentage of food stamps, and almost all of them buy bullshit they don't need, so damn sure have money to spare. And this is just one of many things that been cut, along with many States making cuts. And yes, they need to do more but in the end the size of Government is reducing right in front of your face and you're bitching about it. |

If you do not know how much an employee is going to cost, or how much more in taxes you are going to have to pay it freezes your hiring. Perfect example of that is a hospital near where I live has put a 100% freeze on hiring. They are in bad need of hiring but can not because of many factors. Its not spin its fact, get your head out of the sand. |
