Harleys are not meant to be in the backs of trucks or on trailers. Why own a bike if you are going to trailer it?

In Green River, UT. Utah is really a beautiful state, I-70 is amazing. I think 100 more miles and I will be done for the day. It is blazing hot out here.

amateurbfs 08-10-2010 05:17 PM

I-70 is fun shit

fatfoo 08-10-2010 05:19 PM

Nice bike. You can even attach some bags on the back of it.

I got some video of it, just not sure at what point the bug hit my helmet cam lens, so we will see how good it came out.

Rocky Mountain high, Grand Junction. Tomorrow, Cheyenne, WY.

85 and 90 with ease, even at 9k . . . . I think tomorrow I will go over 11,000' (Eisenhower Tunnel). Looking forward to it.

Seth Manson 08-10-2010 08:52 PM

Are you riding all that distance by yourself?

Yes. I normally do long runs solo.

I took my Heritage thru the tunnel back around 1990, do not recall it being too tough, but will be interesting to see what the fuel injection is like up there.

That's no fun, If I didn't have a Business to run or kids to come home to, I would be right there with ya.
But I use my bikes to tear up the local streets, go bar hopping, do wheelies in traffic. :1orglaugh That's my fun.

Back in the days when we didn't have the Helmet law, I would ride my bike from LA to Palm Springs for spring break when it used to get crazy out there, No shirt, No helmet all the way there and back. Man, that sand storm on the 111 felt like I was getting sand blasted. Good times for sure.

Thank god for the helmet law, and for keeping my belly in my shirt now.

We all have a niche.

Maybe for you, but for me, riding around town or 100 miles to Palm Springs is just a tease.

Riding with a group is a pain. I have done it many times. That is why I go solo now.

My friends used to call me Unaviodable, because I could leave LA two days after them and arrive in Sturgis at the same time or before most of the others. I would also be the one passing messages along the road for the guys that broke down, had g/f issues, whatever.

Most people can not keep up with me, which is why I ride solo. And I have a blast. Meet lots of people, see what I want to see, stop when I want to stop, etc, etc.

goodgirl is driving out from IN to meet me, so we will ride thru SD together.

Hey, about that. I was looking at Mapquest tonight. If I just go to Denver/Littleton that is only 225 miles and then I will have to do 400+ to get to Sturgis on Thursday. That took me 9 hours today (+1 I lost). I don't want to arrive there beat. Long story short, tomorrow I am going to make it to Cheyenne or further into Wyoming so Thursday is a hop, skip and a jump.

I am going to stop in Littleton on Sunday for sure. Not really sure what time yet, but will call when I have a clue. :thumbsup

Awesome how you get around :thumbsup

One more day of heat and then the rains come tomorrow night. Highs in the 70's Friday and next few days then.

A high of 77? I will probably need a jacket. I have become used to 95+ I went up over 11,000' today, and had to put on my chaps, a long sleeved shirt and warm gloves. It was only about 65, which is not that cold, but it is 50 degrees cooler than some places I have been, so I was cold.

Adam_M 08-11-2010 08:47 PM

Yeah 65 is pretty chilly on a bike. Otoh at 95 on a bike is a beautiful thing as long as you're moving. I bet you hit some real waves of heat. Then again you are used to at least that hot I'm sure.

Beautiful bike btw. I have never rode that long on a bike but after about 6-7 hours you got to get a bit achey. Altho that one does look comfy. 10-12 hours on the road and on a bike has to take a bit of concentration especially when you get up and do it for 3-4 days straight. 400-500 miles/day is a long f'n way in a car. :)

baddog 08-11-2010 09:47 PM

Thanks. To be honest, I would much rather ride in 65 than 95. 95 sucks. This thing doesn't have a saline drip attachment or a handy cup holder, so I get really dehydrated in these temps.

I am glad to hear about the rain. Last I looked it was going to be rain and continued heat. So that is great news.

I have been spending 8-9 hours on the road each day. But I stopped in Vegas for dinner on the first night and met my brother in Denver today, so it hasn't exactly been non-stop.

Tomorrow will be, weather permitting.
