I'm on a private pension soon, kicks in when I'm 60 in 3 weeks, and hoping to get an invalid pension, which I will donate to charity I think.
All I really want is the sticker so we can park in the disabled spot. LOL

i am not but have never really paid into unemployment either as this is the only job i've ever had and paying into it is not mandatory.

If the lay off continues I will be in a week or so. I can afford to miss a few days work but a weeks salary is more then I can handle when I have a family of 4 to support and to make things worse its my Sons 4th Birthday next week and my Daughters 6th next month plus back to school.

I bitched the company out that I work for but Im just a # so they dont give a damn, its all about saving a buck to them, fuck the loyal employee and his family.

I used to make some extra bucks selling domains but these days its not an ez task with the current industry situation, ya lifes a bitch at times...

luckily I have never been truly unemployed. I took long vacations in the past between running small businesses but those were always planned times off from working.

Never collected unemployment in my life.... but I am looking into whether or not there is a way for me to actually squeeze some out of the state if I can. (doubt it, but I wanna try anyway... hey, I've paid into that shit all this time, why not get something back out of it right?).

Here in canada you don't. I always figured it would probably be somewhat difficult to get it as how do you prove you're out of work in this line of business. You don't get a pink slip.

Yeah... I've been told by all of my accountants that I don't qualify, but I believe there is a way for us self-employed business owners to get a piece of that cherry government unemployment pie. Just not 100% on the proper procedure to make that happen yet.

This is SUPPOSED to be a porn industry board. So theoretically NOBODY on here should be collecting "unemployment" ever. Even if you worked for a company and got fired, you should still have the damn brains to make money in this business. Especially if you were an "Affiliate Rep" :1orglaugh

I can see it now: "Yes, I was the main affiliate rep for one of the biggest porn companies in the world. I helped affiliates "optimize" their traffic to the company and make MILLIONS! But I don't know how to join an affiliate program myself and make sales. So therefore I need to go on welfare."

I' m full time and do consulting on the side, but it's getting tougher out there:

I am sorry to hear about your situation, but what do you want the company to do? Not fire anyone file for bankruptcy and then have to fire everyone?

Not sure what its like in the US, but here if you are unemployed its because you are lazy or far far too picky. Got more jobs than we can fill especially in the cities.

There is an element of that here but there is also a stupid situation that has been created where you go on benefits and get a lot of other things apart from the basic weekly handout including silly-cheap rent and free dentist/optician and other subsidised things and free school dinners for your 900 kids. You end up where to actually go looking for a job and getting one puts you out of pocket compared to sitting on your fat arse all day watching TV.
